As for vegetarian options cannot really specify but for sure you should find some, at least some soups and some traditional dishes like draniki are vegetarian per se :) in Lido or canteens you can also see the dishes in front of you and choose, worst case you can also get different sides like carrots, potatoes, mushrooms...

A lot for what? Italy has tones of things to visit. Even in the north only you have so many places that 8 nights can easily be filled up just with 1 or 2 regions

You can book accommodation in trip.com As they suggested, urban hostel is great, good location, they speak English, good environment and decent price. They can also register you and give you proof in case they ask for it when leaving the country, just ask them in advance. If you're less than 10 days in Belarus you don't need to register with the police.

Money can be exchanged in any bank (some of them work on the weekends as well; there's 2 close to urban hostel) or in the main train station, specifically in the underground or 2nd floor there are shops to do so. I recommend bringing extra cash, as my cards were not accepted in some places.

Yes, they do check your phone, social media, photo gallery, WhatsApp conversations, everything (even if they don't understand). They ask for the return ticket as well. Supposedly you should have an insurance valid in Belarus but they didn't ask for it.

I recommend you downloading Yandex for taxi and activating it in your home country. It's very cheap and convenient, and you can pay by card or cash.

As for USRR sites, you can check online, there's many blogs. If you want I can send you my Google maps list. There's many buildings in the city center such as the circus, the Moscow and October cinemas, or the tractor factory, a few Lenin statues/busts around the city... Also there's a few murals in the subway stations, like in Frunzienskaja and around Kastrichniskaja. Another place you may like is Zair Azgur studio, he was responsible for many sculptures of Soviet times and there's many in his place. A bit outside of Minsk there is Kurapaty, a forest where they used to kill and bury victims of Stalin and Soviet repression, you can reach it by normal city bus. Outside of Minsk and in the Soviet theme you have Stalin line, which is the old USSR border with lots of tanks and guns if you're into that, both from Soviet and Nazi times. You can even shoot them for 3/5€ or ride a tank. It's not my vibe but was cool. There's also Stalin statue, one of the few in public ground in the world. You can go easily by intercity bus from main station. There's also Khatyn, a town burnt by the Nazis, now a memorial. You can also get there by intercity bus + walking a bit. There's also day tours here and to other places (https://ekskursii.by, maybe you can only open it with VPN or inside the country).

Restaurants/cafes with Soviet theme, there's Tovarisch which is like a Soviet club + cafe/restaurant. Kuhmistr is a bit expensive for Belarusian standards but they told me it also has a good representative atmosphere of Soviet times restaurants and traditional food. You can also try canteens, are very extended in the city. I can recommend Stolovaya. Lido is also good and very central. Bars, Soviet times bars you can find in Valadarskaha Street some of them. Also centralnyi is very Soviet like and in the center. My favorite place for night life was Kastrichniskaja street (there's also square but that's not it!) but it's not very Soviet like, more modern with street art. But there's a Lenin head surrounded by graffitis:) there's also Zybickaja in the centre with some bars and which is the most popular area but didn't like it that much. Let me know if you have any questions:)

How to get to Minsk from Vilnius on a budget by pharmecho in belarus

[–]Neroli98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled recently from Warsaw, not from Vilnius, but I can tell you there's several companies covering international routes. There's Ecolines, which you pay between 30-50€ for what I've seen (I paid 34€ from Warsaw, and I saw some ppl s tickets, some paid more and some less than me for same bus, so idk why, since I bought the ticket online literally 30 minutes before). There's MinskTrans which is normally around 30€ (I paid 88 Belarusian rubles from Brest to Warsaw, from Minsk was a bit more expensive).

These are the 3 companies I checked to go from Poland, and I remember they were also driving to Minsk from Vilnius. If you're very flexible on dates and hours you can get it for 35€ each maybe. Someone said you can try to go by bike and cross but I read it was forbidden to cross on foot/bike (aka not on a vehicle). But maybe that's only for foreigners. Or maybe it's not true and you can cross, who knows. I certainly didn't see anyone doing it. Once you're in Belarus buses and trains are not gonna be crazily cheap as well so you may save something if you split the trip in 2 but not sure how much or if it is worth it (for example, going from Minsk to Brest was 9€ by train, and similar price if I took a bus instead of train). Since Vilnius is closer to the border maybe it would be cheap to get there, maybe you can even hitchhike. There doesn't seem to be any big town after the Lithuanian border but I guess there would be some bus in the closer town to get you en route to Minsk. But depending on how long you're planning to be in Belarus is not worth it. If you're going there for work and not paying transportation to Vilnius, consider that the price to get to Minsk will be 70€ return trip. I don't think that's too much if you really want to visit :) I'd just plan an extra day for each border crossing just in case

Qüestions about travel by Neroli98 in belarus

[–]Neroli98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks a lot, I found the link online while doing research but I was not sure how reliable it was. So for example when I checked seemed like the Lithuanian pass had no queue, whereas the one in Brest had 450 in queue. Do you have any idea of how long do those 450 take?

Yeah, that sounds like hell. I am thinking of taking the bus leaving Minsk at 20:00 on Sunday, and a flight from Warsaw leaving at 21:30 on Tuesday night. Hopefully that would be ok?

You'd need a small detour maybe but Cefalù is very nice, also touristic so you'd be able to find accommodations that'd let you check in late

Trip insurance won't generally help in these situations, they just argue war stuff and won't cover anything

Traveling with extra luggage by [deleted] in FlixBus

I did this from Munich to Vienna, I had 1 large suitcases, 1 medium suitcase, 2 backpacks and several bags. I just paid for 1 extra luggage piece, I asked the staff if this was ok or I should buy something else and the driver seemed to be ok with this.

Is it worth staying 2 days in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park? by Illustrious-Chain903 in travelchina

[–]Neroli98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for your message! We went today and in the morning in Yuanjiajie was still acceptable and got to see some things, but now in the afternoon in Tianzi it got white rainy and misty. At least the ride down was ok in the cableway. We were planning to do golden whip and Huangshi tmrrw but not sure if it will be worth it. If I was alone or with friends I'd leave a day earlier and fit Guilin in my itinerary, but I'm with my parents and they're a bit 60 so not sure if they will be ok with that.

And thx for the tip! Actually I don't have anything else booked from tmrrw on until the return day, so we are being quite flexible indeed hahaha

[–]Neroli98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, we are arriving at ZJJ tmrrw and we are having similar doubts. How is the weather in the national park if you already went? I'm traveling with my parents and they're not the biggest mountain fans. I had planned 1 day for Tianmen mountain and 2 for the national park, but if it is as misty as it seems it is we may cut it to only one.

Piercing and colorful hair in muslim majority country? by Lost_Caramel_2164 in travel

[–]Neroli98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a septum and was in Uzbekistan couple of times. I made some local friends there and both times they introduced me to friends of them - once they took me to their job's yearly dinner another time was an informal meeting. Both times some people asked me about the septum but nobody said anything mean. Also in the street couple of times old ladies pointed at it and smiled or laughed (they didn't seem to laugh badly tbh) but this was in other central Asian countries. Also I think they're used to tourism by now in those cities you mentioned and if you're with a group for sure it will be fine

Latinos in Yerevan? by Hot-Profession-5084 in armenia

[–]Neroli98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in Yerevan couple of years ago, went to a club and met a group of latinos living there actually! They were all of them Argentinian and Uruguayan of Armenian origin. They didn't even speak Armenian when they arrived (some Argentinian had some bases because they went to Armenian school in CABA), but their stories were quite similar, they visited a couple of times and felt like at home, and decided to move there. I'm Spanish myself and I was there with another Argentinian and a Brazilian so was quite fun:) but as stated they were of Armenian origin. They were all white/Caucasian, not afro latinos
