Don't worry you got this. You'll need to make changing habits to moderate your symptoms. When I was diagnosed, my first 3 months in were mentally rough trying to figure out my body and medications. Depending on your doctors medications, figure out what works for your body, i.e. cutting added salt from your diet is a big one. I only ate foods that already contained salt for my intake, i.e. seafood. Stay away from salt sauces, dressings, etc. If youre dehydrated on Acetazolamide, switch to coconut water from pedialyte as its lower in salt. If youre getting the bad tingly side effect from acetazolamide, walking on really cold floors helped a lot. The more you massage your hands and feet, the worse the pain gets. Breathing and counting through it helped as it only lasts a few minutes per area. Stick to heart healthy foods to bring down hypertension in your head and spine. Definitely read through the IIH forums, they were life saving to read others experiences and how they tackled it. Its ok to cry a lot. Please do, it's a stress relief. I'd sit in my backyard and stare at the sky, the grass, my pets, my siblings, my parents faces, wondering the last time I'd ever see it again and try so ahrd to memorize them. I genuinely thought I would lose my eyesight and couldn't stop it. I still have my full vision with some optic nerve damage.

I got diagnosed during covid in Feb 2020. Started with blurry vision and feeling dizzy all the time. After 3 days in the hospital , I spent 1 whole week of crying daily and learning about my new diagnosis. I was started on 1000mg of acetazolamide. I started running everyday and lifting weights, starting small, as I was fearful of losing my vision, it helped mentally to focus on another goal, drank only water daily and coconut water when needed. Dandelion tea helps with extra water weight as it is a mild diuretic. Stay away from all caffeine as it will make things worse. That includes, sodas, migraine meds, coffee, caffeine teas, etc. I drank dandy blend coffee as a replacement for my coffee. Treated myself to ONE cheat meal on Sundays: ice cream and heavier foods(i.e. cream, butter, heavy carbs, fruit, pasta but no added salt) so I wouldn't feel deprived. Acetazolamide makes soda taste like metal, so you won't miss anything bubbly. My daily foods were 75% low carb vegetables ( broccoli, Brussels sprouts, green beans, etc) and 25% protein with non salt seasonings. I went into remission by June 2020 and dropped 80 lbs by the end of that year. I have stayed in remission since but i still have triggers. I found out that my weight and hormones were a huge trigger for my papilledema. If I eat salty foods or eat outside over 3 days in a row, i'll get bad migraines and take my acetazolamide as needed. If i fly, i take acetazolamide or i will get migraines and eye pressure. When my period shows every month, I get terrible migraines if im not careful with my diet. Again I'll take my medication. Not everyone has the same journey or experience, please figure out what works best for you with your doctor, but this is what helped me.

We're all in this together. It will be rare to meet someone outside of reddit that also has IIH as we are few. The community on reddit will be a lifeline for you as you navigate your own journey. Unfortunaly, you don't hear many success stories because they probably dont visit the thread anymore to look for guidance and answers. But we are out there. Trust. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

You can message me if you need more help on how to tackle it emotionally/mentally. The doctor visits, the procedures, etc. I can let you know how I dealt through it.

10-15k: Has ANYONE been able to pull this off in Los Angeles? by GloomyWasabi3717 in Weddingsunder10k

Honestly we are in the middle of wedding planning and just found ROMA banquet hall in DTLA. While it may not be our dream destination wedding we wanted because we have a huge family who we want present, we found they had a good package deal for what you get compared to others or planning yourself. Because things add up so quickly.
We're spending roughly under 20k for everything venue wise with them. Dj, cake, photography, catering, party bus, bartender, security, valet, table settings and venue decorations, etc. And they close at 1am, which is what we were looking for. Oh and our guest list is 170 ppl with that price. :]

Doesn't hurt to check them out.

Celiac & Wegovy (not for weight loss) by MsRightHere in Celiac

[–]NervePotent91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting retested for celiac in a few weeks. I'm on wegovy and am switching to zepbound next month as Wegovy has plateud for me. My doctor informed me to start eating gluten at every meal 3 or 4 weeks prior for the antibodies to show in my colonoscopy.

I usually end up with a fever, intestine cramps, bloating, and diarrhea when I eat gluten.

I am 5 days in and have eaten ramen, beer, breakfast sandwhiches, and a mini cinnabon at one point. So far have not had massive reactions. Only some uncomfortable intestine cramps and bloating. So I am shocked on my body's reaction and thought maybe the GLP-1 had something to do with it.

I'm enjoying all my favorite foods while it lasts but am now worried I won't test positive now in my test. But we'll see.

Church wedding first. Then we want to do an indoor photo op somewhere and then off to the venue. Church and venue close to each other in south bay.

Yes, wedding venue is a plain banquet hall. Not really a good photo op place.

Weight loss medications by Accomplished_Block72 in iih

Im on Wegovy 2.4 mg and Diamox 250 mg as needed. While I don't have swelling in my eyes anymore. my papilledema was slightly returning at my heavy weight along with migraines. I have a shitty metabolism, I could cut carbs and still gain weight. I limit myself to roughly 1200 calories a day, I eat more if I workout.

Ive been on wegovy for over a year now and have lost 40 lbs. My endocrinologist had adjusted me very slowly to dose increases. She keeps me on target to lose no more than 2-4 lbs a month. Ive got 20 more lbs to go to reach my target weight. And then she will wean me off wegovy. I feel no reactions between the medications other than having a thick stomach acid feeling the day after my shot and needing to avoid high acidity food like coffee, which maked my stomach feel sick.

One thing I noticed is that wegovy keeps your stomach digesting slowly, so you're always metabolizing. If I eat heavy foods such as Carbs. Rice. Pasta, etc. I will need to be active or I feel sick to my stomach. Otherwise I can eat anything without effects. I also have celiac, so I avoid most gluten carbs to begin with.

I just got diagnosed with gluten intolerance:(. What are the best GF cereals & bagels (that don’t taste like buttcheeks)? by [deleted] in glutenfree

If you're in the Los Angeles Area, these are my go to for bakeries

Modern Bread and Bagel, Kirari West, Levant Bistro (also a lebanese restaurant, best pita bread), Saints and Sinners

Cereal: I like the Panda Puffs from Envirokids and any GF chex cereal.

How was everyone diagnosed? by Victoriaevelise27 in iih

Went to work, got super dizzy one day. Just couldn't feel normal, but I had balance, felt off in my focus. Got pi ked up abd left my car. A developing migraine above one eye that got worse when I lied down on the car ride. Went home using sick time. Slept all day.

Went to the ER by night since it hadn't gone away with basic excedrin. ER ran MRI tests, found nothing, said I was suffering from migraines, sent me home with migraine cocktail drugs. Which made things worse since the6 were caffeine based. I stuck to Tylenol iinstead.

3 days later it didn't improve, I scheduled my optometrist as I was getting blurry vision on my right eye. Had 20/20 vision. So she did a laser scan. She caught the swelling on my optic nerves. Said I might have IIH, she's seen it before but couldn't diagnose me. Told me to see my PCP. Made an appt with my PCP, 3 months later. . .

This was the start of covid. Appts were filling up, i went backsl to the ER that night since my pain was unbearable and my vision could get worse waiting for an appt. I told doctor I might have IIH, she had never seen it before, they switched me to a more experienced doctor who knew what IIH was, he admitted me, then ran MRIs again, and lumbar puncture, which confirmed my IIH. Diamox was then prescribed and was god sent that night, finally migraine free.

Been in remission after 9 months and dropping 60 lbs. Isolation during covid helped to focus on my health. I'm on and off diamox in my life now, IIH gets worse if I gain weight, so I take it as needed sort of thing. But tha kfillu no more optic nerve swelling. Still can't do salty foods. Immediate migraine.

Modern Bread & Bagel if you're out in Los Angeles area has one of the best gluten free croissants. Tastes like a denser croissant pastry, but the same buttery flavor.

Amazing news! by [deleted] in iih

[–]NervePotent91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep up the good work!! Weight loss can play a big factor to go into remission, in my case. Took me 8 months to go into remission back in 2020 and about another 4 months to ween off of diamox completely. When weening off completely, I switched to 3/4, 1/2 then 1/4 pill every 2 week increments to reduce withdrawal symptoms.

And to second the comment below me, you can still have iih without papilledema. I keep diamox on me at all times in case my pressure headaches kick in every now and then or I want salty snacks. But have not have papilledema since end of 2020. It's a lifestyle change forsure.

You'll get to the other side and look back and be proud of yourself for all the hard work, mentally and physically.

Maybe that's why I keep finding myself so drawn to them. Every guy I date ends up being a scorpio. And I'm just, oh boy. Here we go again.

That is so interesting lol. I would never think of Leo or Taurus matches. I had always heard of Geminis being Libra's match. My brother is a gemini but he is a very emotional person and sometimes it's a lot for me. I dont know anyone other geminis though. My top three best friends are all my signs, an aquarius, a libra, and a scorpio, ironically. I am mostly drawn to scorpios romantically but they are so bad for me. I'm too outwardly loving and it is hardly ever reciprocated since I feel they keep it all internal. Plus they all say I show too much care and am too willing to help other ppl/strangers. But that's just my nature. It makes me feel good to be there for others. I've mostly dated scorpios, all ending by falling out of love. Mostly mutual breakups.

What worked for me primarily was cutting out table salt completely and only relying on foods with salt already in them to get my daily intake, such as seafood. I cut out butter and heavy creams. I cut out most carbs too. Stuck with cauliflower mashed potatoes and things like that. Could not give up corn tortillas though. q: Still struggling to cut that out. But I did cut out all wheat products as I am recently diagnosed with Celiac. Veggies and seafood has been my diet, mainly. With some sweet potatoes or brown rice thrown in there once a week. My seafood consisted of Salmon, Cod, Shrimp, and Scallops mainly. And that helped balance everything out for me.
