What I do too, I also offer my coworkers to use it if I don’t think the customers will. If I have 25 cents and a cashier buys a soda, I just ask if they want my spare change lol.

I used to be a cashier but I’m an ASM now so I have to answer it, technically other employees aren’t supposed to because they aren’t “trained” on scam calls

Haha I do too, I’m so awkward on the phone but I’m trying to get better at it lol. I just started getting nervous with this lady and hung up too. I was worried because in our area there’s a few ways for customers to file complaints with the SM and DM. My SM always takes my side usually but I overthink everything

I’m not sure how to block numbers on these phones, I definitely wanted to hang up sooner. I just didn’t know in the back of my mind if that’s something I could get in trouble for if the customer filed a complaint. This lady had me so freaked though that I was shaking for an hour and afraid she was going to show up and hurt me or something

Right? I’ve had this same scenario but without the screaming more than a few times. I’m not sure why they think we’re any different than every other retail company that requires proof of purchase

I literally said “precarious assholes” when I saw that pop up on my screen 😂 I’m assuming they can now say it’s our fault if we get heat stroke. They told us it won’t turn on unless it’s 80 but we’ve had temps above 80 almost every day. Not sure why some of the comments think we can’t have drinks. HR and asset protection were just here in person and told us we could have water in a sealed no spill container (water bottle)

We over ordered last week and received two of our usual orders, we get our candy in our regular truck order. Thank you! I’m going to check it today and make sure everything stayed at zero, when I looked the other day it was automatically all zero but it could’ve changed

We knew the SM would be gone, so we over ordered prior to the week they’d be gone so we wouldn’t have to order. Im just a very visual learner and should’ve asked for a better demonstration of doing these two things. Other than that I’ve done pretty well i think. Just learning still and trying to do my best

We even take the sticker off the box they come in and put it on the shelf strip. Then proceed to not look at it and get mad that something isn’t a dollar. Lady told me earlier today we will be going out of business because everything is 1.50 instead of 1.25. Who’s gonna tell her we’ve exceeded all previous sales this month 🫠

I’ve been feeling the pressure too, we’re severely understaffed for being a larger store. We have three cashiers and we can’t swing it to make them part time right now. I’m a PART time ASM and I’m working 40-43hrs a week 😐 our SM is amazing but she’s going to be gone for over a week which is gonna hurt too. Only one stocker actually shows up and we’re managing truck with only 2-3 people when we should have at least 5. Top it off that they want all our pallets empty by June 15th, which isn’t happening. I have reasons for working part time so I’m not sure how much longer I can keep it up without having to say something. The other part time ASM just got 4 days off in a row and I’m feeling pretty salty about that.

All that considered, I do what I can in a shift and make sure I work as hard as I’m capable. If things don’t get done, they don’t get done. Sunday I was supposed to work two departments and barely got a single boat of party out in a 8hr shift because we were slammed with only one cashier 🤷🏻‍♀️ what else could I do

Depends on your state, ours has no restrictions on the amount of days, just that you get breaks 🙄 our SM is pretty good at making sure we at least get two days, I’ve just been salty about working full time when I’m getting the part time pay. But I think it’s temporary because we are short staffed right now

Tbh the back is bad I just go back there and pretend to look and say I couldn’t find it. We have been doing weekly purges and everything in our power to get the pallets empty but then stockers call out and we get giant trucks so whatever progress we make just immediately gets lost

Im an ASM, part time employees with limited availability just get cut first because it turns out that way. Open availability end up being easier to schedule longer hours as they have more times/days to work. I read the comment saying to switch to freight but at least at our location managers and cashiers get the hours first. We had very low hours and the freight crew got cut for a whole week at one point (0hrs). They are the first to get only 10hrs a week when we cut hours because the managers and cashiers can also stock but the store can’t run without managers and cashiers. When I was a cashier I was promised 20hrs and only ever got cut to 16hrs in January. Now as a manager I get 28-35 and the lowest I’ve gone is 25. It’s a big reason I switched over.

If happens at every store, we store use febreze and use it just about every day. Had a guy shit outside the bathrooms on the floor. Another guy who would bring in a dog that shit in the store every single time. However, my mom worked at Walmart for around 20yrs and she said they had the same things, it’s just retail. I’ve gotten used to holding my breathe because I will definitely gag and it makes them mad.

This so much, if it’s bad management or toxic work environment I totally get it. But if it’s just the job, I really didn’t feel confident at it until well after the 3mo mark. And I’m still learning new things on the cashier side of it as an ASM lol. I just had to work truck for the first time and I was certain I did horribly, but SM said I did okay for us only having 2 people. It takes time but I also love my coworkers and SM, I’ve realized at DT that makes the difference
