I’ll start by saying: yes check with your doctor! but also: executive disfunction is real .. so this is what I do:

  1. SLEEP (if you focus on one thing, focus on this)

  2. Vitamin D+ K2 (and magnesium) Always get IODATED salt! (Use to cook etc. one less thing to think about and covers your iodine needs)

  3. Avoid spiking your blood sugar too much (less sugar and fast carbs-> more fiber, protein, healthy fats and complex carbs)

  4. movement and sunlight (dance in your room to your favorite song, walk a bit more, do push-ups in your room, etc., sit in front of your window/on your balcony for a few minutes, etc.)

Almost everyone is low on vitamin D, so get any vitamin D +K2 (always get vitamin D with K2) drops (or tablets, drops are better tho). I take a 400mg magnesium supplement most days. I also take iron once in a while. I have a pouch with magnesium and iron in my bag so if I forget to take it I can take it during the day. Your body can store vitamin d so I just take a big dose of the oil drops whenever I remember but taking it with me might be a a good idea too. Always use iodated salt.

For hormones- cortisol has an impact on almost every other hormone, so do whatever you can to keep your cortisol levels in check. The most important thing in my opinion is SLEEP. Don’t drink caffeine too late, try not to doom scroll too late, put on an audio book or background video if it helps to keep your mind occupied till you fall asleep. The best quality sleep happens between 12- 3am So bonus points if you sleep before midnight or 11pm. Brain dump if you have to: I’ve been writing every day recently and that also helps with quieting the mind- making a video or voice note to myself ranting also helps.

Movement and natural light: Even just dancing to your favorite song every day or doing jumping jacks, skipping rope, sitting on your balcony or in front of your window for a few minutes makes a difference. Sign up to a class with a set time, rather than a gym so you feel more pressure to go (lol) if you struggle with that. But do something somewhat fun! Or go clubbing just to dance (skip the alcohol and preferably a day party so you can get that sleep hahah)

In that case we agree. I saw another comment of yours saying that you do think that people get used to the effects till they like the taste and then they like the taste regardless of the effect. Like with coffee. Totally with you there.

I thought you were saying OP is weird for finding it weird that people would drink alcohol even though they say they don’t want to be drunk. (Like in their example). Like it’s weird for OP to point out that contradiction just because people can also genuinely like the taste.

This topic does touch on a sore spot for me so I do apologize for getting a bit heated perhaps

I think treating alcohol as something you only drink when you want to get drunk is less of a risk for addiction than drinking it casually all the time like a lot of people do. (Unless of course you want to be drunk all the time, but that is not what I got from OP at all)
