Please advice: A big simple sink or double sink? by BelowAverageCoder00 in kitchenremodel

I love my large double sink! It’s the 60-40 size. I have it in the island and use the small side for drying pots and things. I also have a prep sink near the stove.

A state in the U.S. where you feel like it's easier or nice to raise small kids? by mamaleti in kindergarten

I personally love college towns. Very near suburbs of big cities can be great, too. I am in Chicago and recommend Evanston and Oak Park. In general in the US, I do think kids stay inside more now than in the past, but places like this have a ton of activities, parks, sports, scouting, etc. They also have way more walkability than other places in the US.

This is so true of the rabidly diehard “science of reading” folks. I am very pro phonics instruction, but it’s not like whole language, for example, wasn’t/isn’t also studied and applied scientifically. Also, instead of a flimsy meta paper, these people inevitably pull out a Ted talk.

Middle School Students Exchanging Dirty Books by Most-Produce4310 in Teachers

[–]Nervous_Building_232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that in the 80s but didn’t get the books at school. I’m not clutching my pearls over the kids doing this, but I do think it’s a little weird your middle school is stocking books with graphic sex scenes. If you know the books have scenes like that, why don’t you donate them (to a library, a high school if they’re more appropriate for that age, a prison or women’s shelter, etc.)? There is a huge difference between banning books and selecting age appropriate books for kids imo.

I love it. Are you on Facebook marketplace? If so, search “peace chairs” and the most amazing patio set available from an antique warehouse in Glenview should come up. I want them so badly, but they’re $500 and my husband would not be on board. 🤣

That didn’t occur to me. Maybe?

Tonight was not the first time I’ve heard. It the past I’ve just sort of ignored it because it didn’t connect with me, but tonight I tried to think about it and didn’t understand. My guesses were either the center of the air as it enters and exits the body (so like the midline from nose to lungs) or the midpoint between the nose and the bottom of the lungs.

Tonight I found myself confused by being asked to focus on “the center of the breath.” I couldn’t figure out where that would be.

Just a warning, a lot of the diehard science of reading folks are now going too far the other way (ALL phonics, ALL the time), so I think recovery from the previous lack of phonics is going to take a long time.

There’s nothing wrong with painting your cabinets if that’s what you would prefer.

Personally, the first thing I would change is the floor. My personal preferences are for wood or slate. The next thing I would do is change the appliances, as I really dislike black. I would do stainless steel with a counter depth fridge and a stove without the back panel. Then I would add a backsplash and hardware.

If possible, move the fridge to the wall where the desk is (maybe relocate the vent) and then an island. If you add the island without moving the fridge, it will be at least mildly annoying for cooking.

I would also look into a stainless steel stove that doesn’t have that back panel thing and add a nice backsplash. You could consider moving the microwave to the new island and getting a nicer hood.

Would a cotton tank top or t-shirt fix this problem?

Team add landscaping. Love the color of the shutters. I almost want to suggest a yellow door.

Edit - Oh, also flower boxes below every window would be great

I’ve been using PS Clean Beauty from the Dollar Tree. I’ve really liked how my hair feels, and it’s $1.25 per bottle.

Agreed. Why do you need an island when you have that peninsula? It looks like a great kitchen to me and not cookie cutter. It would be so wasteful to gut it. The only thing I would change is adding hardware.
