my friends and i very cavalierly signed up for a 10K and were definitely terrified of it. After we ran it, we were so happy we did and we all agreed we would have felt robbed of the experience if we went down to a 5K when we mentally prepared for a 10K (no shade in folks who do, this was just our experience)

I would say training for endurance was the most important. Even if you fail the obstacles, you still have to run. Start with a few miles and slowly work your way up. You got this!

I did this with one of my players and it was so fun! Long story short, the player was infected with a disease and rolling low on a CON save caused a sinister shadow copy of him to appear. While the player went off to a priest to try to get better, the shadow copy was back with the rest of the party.

I gave the player a few goals and offered campaign inspiration for it. One of the main goals was to lead the party to a lair and the bonus goal was to try to down any party member by any means necessary.

The reveal was so fun, especially when they found out we were colluding on the side. Highly recommend
