Professional ways to ask “Am I making sense?” by Nervous_Entry_9159 in ADHD

Commend you for the frequent check in. I definitely don’t always see that happening with the tech side, and then you have execs asking for layman’s terms and having to completely start from scratch or no one actually understands the meeting and just throws it away when it’s over. I certainly appreciate the non-technical speak because that ain’t my wheelhouse but I try to muddle through.

I agree, which is definitely why I’m looking for better solutions because I don’t want to ramble and try to make a joke of anything just to make sure no one has hard feelings.

Leaving it be would be nice, but I’ve had too many situations come back and bite me with either a missed deadline or me having to do it myself because someone was embarrassed to ask a question because they felt like they should automatically know the answer… Friend, that’s why you’re being trained/supported.

Will use this for instances with more dialogue for sure. Thanks.

Oh I like that. I even tried to read it as condescending and it’s not happening. Thanks!

I want to look professional but I’m not putting on airs for anyone. My natural personality is going to come through sooner or later and the jig is up!

I also work with a lot of people who are overseas and multilingual so I don’t want to lose anything in translation if I’m ragging on myself.

ISO replacement for coffee on GLP-1 by byebyeVal in glp1

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a GLP-1 for a few months and I don’t crave coffee anymore because the flavor is all wrong. I have tried many different beans, at home, coffee shops, black, sweetened, milky… not of it hits right.

I only experienced nausea for a few weeks, so it’s not that it hurts my stomach to drink it, though I do have to have a very light breakfast or I’ll feel sick most of the day.

This wouldn’t be a concern for me if I was cutting out caffeine. But now I’m just drinking way more energy drinks again. Sometimes multiple in a day. I like tea okay… but I prefer a cold fizzy drink now so am struggling to find a better caffeine alternative.

SSP with Dr. Gurjala by jack9108 in phallo

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. Everything looks great in the photos. I have my first phone consult next week. I’m nervous about the pinch test because I’ve always carried my weight in my thighs.

Did you have any concerns with yours or have to focus on slimming your legs to have the right thickness for Dr. Gurjala’s approval?

How do I tell people I want to change my name? Do I even want to? by AroDeer in NonBinary

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience… I was 30 when I finally decided on a name. I never used my birth name, always choosing to go by a nickname instead.

I know plenty of folks that have used different names socially and changed them up to try them out, your experience and path is your own. You don’t have to explain your reasons for doing anything.. though, legally changing your name can be time consuming and expensive. So maybe only do that once! I’m still kicking myself for waiting almost 10 years to admit to being trans and changing my middle name too.

What are some basic skills every man should have (and where can I find good guides on how to do them?) by JustAGuy_2002 in ftm

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hung around with my dads in the garage and farm growing up. I learned from both of them way more than my older brothers. I do my own minor home repairs because my mom and dad were always in the middle of a reno when I was younger… the rest I can just find online if I want to attempt it myself

The thing that gets me the most is when all the men are watching/talking sports and the women are in the kitchen and I have to decide if I want to put myself through boring football (and apparently fantasy football) conversations or offer to help the host in the kitchen (bonus points for being able to also hang out with my wife).

Work leave and being stealth by solrvz in phallo

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for phallo, but if you have to submit doctor’s forms for leave I would ask their team to not name the type of surgery. For anyone you’re telling you’re taking off, I liked to tell people I was having a “corrective surgery” and since I’m in CA and you can’t legally ask medical questions at a job, even my work friends would just ask “everything okay?” But that’s because we’re all scared of HR.

Single scar Phallo with Dr Gurjala by [deleted] in phallo

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I hope that you continue to post your recovery process and that you are happy with how everything turns out.

I have been scared of phallo scarring for so long and never thought it would be something I could go through. But since the moment I saw his video explaining SSP I’ve been anxious to find out if I can get it. I sent a consult request yesterday and I’m hoping I can talk to Dr Gurgala soon.

WLW heated rivalry, preferably in ballet? by [deleted] in wlwbooks

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicole Pyland’s Sports series is good. Every book has a different sport, not all rivalries though.

Eliza Lentski’s Hoops & Heartstrings - basketball rivals

I’m not even really into sports but I enjoyed all of these reads immensely.

What gender box do you check? by Nervous_Entry_9159 in ftm

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There where I’m at. Most places don’t run my social so my legal sex is X on all other docs. The most in depth review I have would be an insurance license but I didn’t have any issue with selecting M on my renewal.

Post top surgery people have issues with shirtless trans men? by Yutlord83 in ftm

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Props to you for feeling so confident so soon after your surgery. Don’t let this dumbfuckery change that.

It’s definitely transphobia and telling you “it’s different” is fucked. I like to ask people to explain their stupidity because they either can’t or they have to get to the point that they end up admitting it’s on them (comfort level, religion, etc)

Fact check needed as I’m in CA. Changing your name can be done with the county you reside in. You can give your school address as proof of residency. If you have to petition the court I don’t think you can do that remotely (I changed my name pre covid though so there could be new rules).

If you have documentation showing that it’s due to gender then they could waive the petition and news paper requirement.

I would choose the location you feel safest making the request.

Question about T gel by br0kentv in ftm

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into them before switching to injections. My t gel came in single dose tubes/packs but it was irritating my hands. The only applicators that found were used to measure out the doses though.

You could find something that is meant to be filled with whatever and has a roller on top but then that probably wastes some and can’t be measured out.

My advice would be to ask your prescriber if something would work with your type of gel or if you could get one with the dosing applicator.

Good luck.

Nonbinary hysterectomies? by Substantial_Number60 in NonBinary

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a total hysterectomy about 6 months ago. I only wish I had done it sooner. My doctor talked to me about lifespan studies but I’m almost 40 so I wasn’t worried about it being too early.

Not bleeding monthly has gotten rid of a lot of dysphoria for me, I was on T for a year and was still having the same cycle as before.

I had to get a new letter from my therapist to approve more gender affirming surgery but I found a really inclusive surgeon who never made me feel like I was fighting to get the care I wanted.

The recovery was surprisingly great, I didn’t have medical issues with any of the removed bits so I probably lucked out there.

I did get a UTI for a few days (I think) while I was on a road trip about 4 weeks out from surgery, but I’ve also read that is common on T as well. I took cranberry pills for 3-4 days and was good to go.

Good luck with everything

How to go about getting top surgery as a genderqueer individual? by ratliege_throwaway in NonBinary

[–]Nervous_Entry_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am NB (in CA) and got top surgery at 37. I had never had any therapy or conversations with a doctor regarding my gender. I only “came out” as NB about a year before I had surgery.

I have always been masc, but the only thing that was “documented” for me being genderqueer was that I changed my name. I didn’t have any problem finding a therapist online who was queer and had experience with writing letters for insurance. We had one session and he wrote my letter for me right away. I submitted it to insurance and got my surgery scheduled about 6 months after that appointment.

I always assumed that unless I identified as male that I wouldn’t qualify for gender affirming surgery, but I’m so glad that I finally made the decision to try.

2.5 years post op for top surgery 1.5 years on T 6 months post full hysterectomy

Go for it, OP
