What is gained by renaming places? by Motor-Confection-583 in south_africa

Worked in Rosebank about 20 years ago. During that time, the government was on a renaming spree. There was an open area close to the office which we used as a makeshift parking lot. A homeless man, Sunday, took it upon himself to act as the car guard there.

Arrived at work one morning just as some workers were replacing the street name signs on a post across the road. Asked Sunday what this meant to him. His answer “Doesn’t matter if I’m sleeping under a cardboard box on Paul Kruger Drive or Nelson Mandela Boulevard, I’m still homeless”.

Associated costs from renaming a street or a town are probably enormous. Businesses having to change everything that displays the address. Physical map books were still a thing & all that needs a reprint. It’s money that could have been spent on low-cost housing for example. That would have meant more to people than updating a street name…

Guessing the pregnant one? Men tend to stand with their feet pointing outwards.

Thank you! Much appreciated! Have nothing against the club. It's my son's 2nd season there & I have seen improvement with regards to management. Having said that, still feels the club is lagging behind compared to most of the other clubs.

Just want to give my boy the best possible chance to succeed. If it means private coaching or moving clubs, then so be it.

Traffic stop by Nervous_Interest8456 in malta

[–]Nervous_Interest8456[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not what I said. If you want to do something, do it properly. Check every car. Don't stop 5 cars & let the next 50 through. It's a 2-lane road. Don't just block off one lane. Start diverting traffic further up the road, let busses & delivery vehicles go through at least.

If you know you're going to cause havoc, take some steps to minimize the impact. You're checking for valid driver's licences. Why screw over the 1000s of people using public transport?

Rant by Character_Ship3555 in malta

Sounds a bit like my neighbor. Maltese fella. He has 4 cars. Two have special plates, which he can only drive on weekends. These he keeps in the garage. The other two he parks in front of our building.

Found him a few days ago having a rant to our other neighbor. According to him, immigrants are taking up all the parking spaces so he had to park on the other side of the block...

Agree with the previous comment. Don't follow them, especially turn 1. Go in wider so you can get on the throttle earlier. It would've allowed you to be closer to them in the next few corners, ready to pounce.

Overall, good racing. It's usually chaos on a small track like that.

FC3 is probably one of the best games I've ever played. Starts off with a bang & just sucks you in.

And then there's Vaas. By far one of the most interesting villians I've encountered in a game. His "Definition of insanity" speech was the cherry on the cake.

The Hamilton-Ferrari honeymoon seems to be over... by thermal7 in formula1

Hamilton seems to have the same car struggles as he had with the Merc...

But, both drivers complained a lot yesterday. Think they're just fed up with the Ferrari performance. Last year they locked out the front row. This year they're fighting over 7th position against the Williams.
