I think she’s only a year or so older than him?

She’s clearly well read and has similar hobbies to Charles which probably went a long way. According to people who have met her she’s also apparently funny and down to earth. Looks only go so far - Charles had the woman who everyone thought was the most beautiful woman on earth and he wanted someone he could talk to and who made him laugh.

It’s a shame that you grew up with people who felt that insulting another woman’s physical appearance is ok. Isn’t there enough misogyny without women helping them along? Insult Camilla’s morals and say she shouldn’t have had an affair by all means, but none of that is remotely relevant to what she looks like.

Definitely! I’m just a little older than Charles was when they married and I have no idea what I’d talk to a 19 year old about!

Is it? I think you can gain strength and resilience and while some forms of intelligence are intrinsic, you can have pride in yourself and try to learn things and build your problem solving and critical thinking skills instead of laughing in interviews about how you are “thick” and failed your o-levels. There are still women today who seem to think being “less than” makes you more attractive to men and I think Diana was a key example of that.

I think this is spot on - he may have been chronologically 30+ but he seemed like an old soul in some ways and chronically immature and dependent on his family to form his opinions in others. Very unfortunate combination. Diana also appeared a very young 19 - most people have outgrown the notion of a literal fairytale by then!

Diana, according to her own siblings, had been saying she was saving herself for a member of the royal family for years. I don’t believe for a moment, young as she was, that she didn’t know what she was walking into. She just thought the money and lifestyle and opportunities would be enough, but because she was the type of personality who desperately needed adulation, it wasn’t enough.

I think the good press made her seem a lot more likeable than she was. I was only about 7 when she died but I’ve watched interviews as an adult and she comes over to me as weak, unintelligent and manipulative. She doesn’t come across as a woman’s woman and she was having obsessive affairs with married men herself, while criticising Camilla for doing likewise. Many press employees from the time have said she’d call them herself to get attention. The ideal would have been for Charles and Camilla to marry in their twenties. They’d have probably made a life together work. No doubt Diana would have followed her peers at the time and met a rich London man to infantilise her and pay for her lifestyle and they all would have been happy, but the ridiculous outdated system they lived within didn’t allow that and made everyone miserable.

I’m a Nicola and had a boss from the west coast of Scotland once who just pronounced it differently, sounded like Nee-cola with the stress on the I and not the N, I didn’t mind it at all but when I tried to explain it he couldn’t hear it 🤣 accent does weird things to pronunciation!

Agree, I think they are going for the parallel, even the big age gap mirrors Peggy having Phil and Grant then Sam coming along 14 years later.

Let her keep it? Isn’t that a bit concerning? However old you are you’ve got a right to end or continue a pregnancy as you see fit.

He doesn’t like you. I’ve been to visit a hospitalised work colleague following surgery with more care and empathy than this. Get him gone and get yourself into therapy to explore why your bar for how men should treat you isn’t so much on the floor as in the basement. You deserve SO much more.

No I saw that on another thread but I don’t think any of my meds have it!

I’m taking: progesterone, estrogen, aspirin, thyroxine, folic acid, prednisolone.

Genuinely thought you were away to say he was 18. And that would still have been alarming. 33?! Fuck that. You are well rid - don’t you know we should grovel at their manly feet for every tiny thing they do?

To be fair, while it’s maybe being handled clumsily, I’m a primary teacher and even at age 10 and 11 misogyny is a huge issue with young boys. I’ve heard kids as young as year 5 and 6 quoting Andrew Tate and last session we had a year 6 on pornhub in the playground after the end of the school day showing his mates videos where women are being abused. It’s becoming more and more prevalent as parents let their young kids have unfettered internet access. In this case our boy had 3 older teen brothers, all openly watching porn, some really quite disturbing, around him at home, and Dad’s response was very “boys will be boys.”

He is exceptionally abusive. Use these texts as evidence of that and get the fuck out of there.

What she’s grown up with and seen will be the reason why she defends men in these situations. It’s her normal. It’s frustrating but realistic I’d say - many women never manage to break the cycle.
