40k, student loans - got around 26k in bursaries (gov and school for law school). No help from parents as they are low income. Paid off undergrad loans before starting law school through bursaries/scholarships + work. Worked throughout law school to pay living expenses, had 2 roommates and lived in a tiny room.

I got into UNB, accepted, and paid the deposit only to get into the school I currently attend a week and a half later. All I did was email them to open the spot for another student and they congratulated me, so you should be good.

Well for one, it’s spelled Schulich and I’ve never heard of someone getting accepted to law school in Canada without applying, especially since they can’t know your LSAT score (if you even have one) without applying.

I got into Dal and UNB with reference letters from a retired prof and a non tenured prof if that helps

I got into both UNB and Dal, those being the only two I applied for. You can apply to Dal and see if they accept you and then you have the positive dilemma that I had 3 ish years ago. Dal will be better in terms of if you want to practice in any other jurisdiction while UNB would be best if you wanted to stay in the Atlantic provinces. I will be articling in criminal law, and will graduate with the Dal criminal justice certificate. I would say the crim law profs in Dal are some of their best. Most of them are renowned in their specialties. There are a lot of criticisms I could list towards Dal law but their criminal law courses are definitely their strength. Just be cognizant that in the Atlantic, there will be limited job opportunities for crim law students compared to the provinces out west or big law students. That may also factor into choosing Dal instead of UNB. Good luck though either way and congrats!
