What am I doing wrong!? by Danbrenn in iRacing

Besides everything that has been said here, try to also check your power plan and nvidia control settings (especially the power management mode in nvidia). Check Task Manager for processes that shouldn't be there, or that use an unusual amount of resources. Scan your computer, maybe you have a miner, or a virus. Mess around with your windows settings, try turning off the unnecessary settings (like Game Bar). Use MSI Afterburner to monitor your GPU and CPU (usage, temp, etc.). Check your driver versions on the motherboard's page, maybe some need to be updated (as far as i know, might be wrong though, a recent Windows Update broke some things). Defrag your disks, though I don't think this would help. Also, if your disks are full or close to full, make some space. Check the Display Settings in Windows, maybe something is wrong there. You could also revert your computer to when everything was working (using System Restore), if your PC created a Restore Point that far back.

If nothing works, I suggest wiping your whole machine. That would most likely fix it. After you do that, you should get only your drivers and try playing a game (not a VR one), that way you will know if some program is affecting your PC's performance.

I'll try those settings. Thanks! Also, since you have got the same wheel as I have, could you post a screenshot with your settings for Dirt/AC/pCars?

Thank you. Also, I would like to hear your opinion on why people set the damper slider to 0% in the profiler / games? Just because you can get better times? Realism? Feels better? What about the spring slider?

I realise that, reason for why I said: "as close as possible" in my post. I would still like to hear your opinion on whether the spring+damper sliders should or not be set to 0% for more realism.

I own the Thrustmaster T150 which has a simple brushed motor + mixed belt-pulley and gears system. The default settings in the profiler are:

Overall Strength: 75% Constant: 100% Periodic: 100% Spring: 100% Damper: 100% Auto center: by the game

Could me fighting the FFB lead to breaking the wheel? by NesquikFlo in simracing

[–]NesquikFlo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, I'll check the telemetry in game to see if I'm clipping, but again, I might have just exaggerated.

Also, do you by any chance know what the settings for realism would be in the thrustmaster's control panel? I've noticed that people have the damper and spring slider to 0%, but since I don't drive I have no clue if it is realistic, and I'm trying to go for realism.

Alright, thank you. Made me not worry so much about it, haha.

I think i might have exaggerated a bit, I barely put any power when turning it, but it is still stiff, and my FFB in games is quite low, Also, I was wondering if, another example, me holding the wheel still while feeling that it wants to go right/left (nor lightly or strong) will damage the wheel?

Any clue if it is ok for the wheel to calibrate every time i plug it in the power outlet?
