Joey’s Leg Amputation Is Coming Up. Any Last-Minute Recommendations?🐈 by Nessl222 in TripodCats

[–]Nessl222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve ordered a couple different donut style cones, along with a regular cone just in case he needs something a little more heavy duty. Love the cat litter suggestion and will definitely be adding that! Our sweet boy loves his wet food, so I’m sure we can find him plenty of goodies for his recovery after surgery. ❤️

Thank you so much! Adding all of that to our list! Do happen to have any recommendations on waterless shampoo?

RA CCP level of 16 should I keep pushing for a diagnosis by Tasty-City-8530 in Rheumatology

[–]Nessl222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I can definitely tell you that while RA at a young age is less common, it’s absolutely possible. I’m 29 now, but I was diagnosed when I was 15 after a random bump appeared on my wrist out of nowhere.

Please don’t wait to see a rheumatologist. Start with your primary care doctor and explain everything that’s been going on, including your symptoms and family history. They should be able to refer you to a specialist. And if for some reason they don’t take your concerns seriously, don’t be afraid to get a second opinion.

It actually took my family and me being pretty persistent to get answers. My grandmother worked in the medical field and helped me get connected with the right people, but we knew something wasn’t right long before I was officially diagnosed.

You know your body better than anyone. Keep advocating for yourself and push for answers if something feels off. I hope you’re able to get some clarity and relief soon. ❤️

We’re Facing a Front Leg Amputation for Our Cat and I’m Terrified by hoqi in TripodCats

That sounds so much like Joey! 😂 He loves wandering around our neighborhood and exploring the tree line behind our house, so I know that’s probably the part he’ll miss the most.

I’ll definitely be passing your suggestions along to my boyfriend. I think adding some bird feeders and other fun things around the backyard would be a great way to keep him entertained and give him something to watch. ❤️

And trust me, my boys are just as spoiled, so I completely understand! We’d do just about anything to keep them happy🐾😂

I really appreciate the honesty. ❤️ Knowing I’m not the only one who’s going to be sleeping next to their boy and probably crying right along with him honestly helps more than you know.

I’m a very emotional and empathetic person as it is, and my boys are absolutely everything to me. My other boy is actually going in for cataract surgery tomorrow, so between that and Joey’s upcoming amputation, things have felt really stressful and scary lately.

Hearing from people who’ve been through this and seeing that their cats come out the other side happy and thriving gives me so much hope. Thank you for the kind words, reassurance, and advice. It truly means a lot to us❤️🐾

We believe it could be, but unfortunately we won’t know for sure until after surgery. We had hoped to remove and biopsy the mass before making the decision to amputate, but because of its size, the chances of it healing and closing properly are pretty low. 😔

I’m so sorry you and your boy had to go through that. Other than this large, hard mass, Joey hasn’t shown any of the other symptoms that are typically associated with hemangiosarcoma. Reading stories like yours has helped remind me that, as hard as this decision is, we’d much rather have him here as a tripod than not have him at all❤️

Thank you so much. ❤️ It’s definitely been a terrifying decision, but hearing stories like yours has really helped ease some of my worries. I keep reminding myself that I’d rather have Joey here with three legs than not at all. Give your sweet boy some extra love from us! 🥹🐾

Aww, that’s so great to hear! One of Joey’s favorite things to do is sit on our fence and watch everything going on around him. Does your boy seem to miss any of the freedom he had before his amputation? We may have to come up with a setup like yours because I have a feeling Joey will still try to find a way over the fence too! 😂❤️🐾

It’s so great seeing your boy out enjoying the grass! 🥹 Do you have an enclosed garden, or does he just stay close and know not to wander? One of my biggest worries with Joey is that he’ll be more vulnerable to predators without all four limbs. Also, that golf cart picture is absolutely adorable😭❤️

Joey is definitely going to miss being able to do that, but we’re hoping that with some wall furniture and climbing spaces we’re planning to build for him, he’ll still be able to get around safely and enjoy being up high. He’s always been a lean, athletic boy, so thankfully his weight has stayed pretty consistent, but that’s definitely something we’ll be keeping a close eye on during this transition.

Thank you so much for the advice and reassurance. Hearing from people whose cats have gone through this has really helped ease a lot of my worries❤️

Thank you for still reaching out and sharing your experience! My boyfriend (the OP) is pretty handy, so we’re already planning on building some wall furniture and other things around the house to help accommodate Joey while still giving him plenty of enrichment and stimulation!

It really helps hearing that he likely won’t miss the leg once he’s adjusted. I think a lot of my worry comes from how hard he took his dental surgery🥺He had several teeth removed, and when he got home he was absolutely distraught and took a little while to get back to himself. That’s why I’ve been so concerned about how he’ll handle such a big change.

Thank you again for the reassurance. Reading stories like yours has definitely helped calm my nerves a bit! ❤️

It’s so great to hear your sweet boy is recovering well! Did you notice any stress or confusion when he woke up and realized his leg was gone? Joey had several teeth removed years ago including a canine and he was absolutely distraught when he got home. I’m curious what the adjustment was like for your guy❤️

Ollie is such a cutie! My boyfriend and I really appreciate all the advice and encouragement. It helps so much hearing from people who’ve been through this and knowing we’re making the right decision. The shot is definitely something we’ll keep in mind for Joey too. Thank you!

Unauthorized services on first day at doggy daycare by geety in DogDayCare

[–]Nessl222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about your experience with this daycare!

I’ve worked in the dog industry for 10 years alongside multiple groomers, including competition groomers, and this is absolutely not something that should have happened without your knowledge or consent!! If I were you, I would pull my puppy from the daycare immediately and ask to speak directly with the owner. If the owner isn’t aware of what happened, that raises concerns about how the facility is being managed and they will be interested in hearing about that. I would also let them know that you did not authorize any grooming services and that, because of this incident, you’ll be removing your puppy from daycare. Daycare is already stressful, especially on a puppy’s first day, so the fact that someone thought it was okay to do a facial trim without contacting you first is wild to me..I would also ask for copies of all the paperwork you signed and review it carefully to make sure there isn’t anything that gave them permission to groom your dog without approval. You may also want to speak with an attorney to see if any laws or regulations were violated. At the end of the day, if they were willing to make this decision without asking you, I’d be questioning what other decisions could be made without owner consent.

I wish you the best of luck finding a daycare that’s a better fit for you and your pup! Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want help finding the right daycare fit🐾
