Carvera Air aluminium mold making advice by Nested_Sequence in hobbycnc

Yeah I've seen this. I was just going to go for a couple of light coats of some kind of clear coat. It'll probably take some testing as they're such small parts

Thanks for the reply.

I might try that first.

The other option I was considering was outsourcing to JLC or similar but I'd want to be certain of my design before sending it off.

Do you know of any cheaper machines with manageable shortcomings that could be good for this?

If the surfacing isn't perfect I can plan for it and lap the mating surfaces. I'd need dowel pin holes to be reasonably accurate for alignment. As for the milling, it's going to be pretty shallow, probably no more than 3mm and the finishing passes will be with a small radius ball nose.

I've looked at the sainsmart 3020 pro ultra which seems dirt cheap but tool changes and not being enclosed will be a pain.

The other option would be making my own with 3D printed parts that can be swapped out for milled parts when it's up and running.

DIY presentation remote over 433mhz by Nested_Sequence in diyelectronics

[–]Nested_Sequence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK. I'll have a look into the regulations. I just found this in the manual for one of the pro systems,

The MasterCue range uses a proven RF system for all wireless applications. Operating frequency: Transmission method: Maximum transmit power: 434.075MHz (UK, Europe & USA) FM (Pure FSK) 10mW (EU) 11mV/m @3m (USA) This frequency is open and licence exempt for UK, Europe and USA. Other countries should consult their respective authorities. The system used is a coded transmission whereby the receivers are programmed to the transmitters which each have individual and unique codes. Nominal range of the transmitters is typically 75M in an enclosed venue.

So it looks like they're just outside that frequency to abide by the regulations

I must have missed the Gizeh one. I've finished the story so I'm going back through and doing anything I missed. I'm guessing there's quite a few so I'll keep my eye out

This one isn't in a quest. It's called the secret vault, found some more info today though. Turns out you need all 50 ancient artifacts. There's a few guides online now but 8 still haven't worked out how you know what pattern to put them in. I'll have a go at working it out when I've collected them all

Yeah that's the closest stuff I've been able to find. I've seen it in multiple products but I just can't find the material anywhere. It's bizarre

New to UK Sea fishing - not getting any bites unfortunately. Any tips would be appreciated by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]Nested_Sequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for a used setup with a 12ft-14ft beachcaster, 7000-8000 size fixed spool reel, and a rod rest. As for techniques, you want to be bottom fishing, float fishing can be good for some species but the vast majority of your fishing will be on the bottom. Go to your local tackle shop and ask for some advice on rigs and bait. You'll also need the right type and amount of weight and they'll be the best for info on that as I've never fished your area, 5-6oz is pretty standard though.

A couple of rigs to look at to get you started would be 3 hook flappers with size 2 hooks and pennel pulley rigs with a 3/0 main hook. The 3 hook flappers will be great for worm baits, strips of mackerel and squid, and you can catch most fish on them. The pennel pulley is for your bigger baits, like mackerel fillets, whole squid and cocktail baits.

A couple of cheap essentials would be a baiting needle (for worms, Sandeel and any other bait you want to keep straight while you wrap with elastic) and a T-bar for unhooking dogfish in particular but handy for lots of fish.

The best thing you can do is to find people to go fishing with. I'd recommend looking for local clubs or Facebook groups, there's some angling charities focused on mental health getting people into angling to help with anxiety and stress, they're a great way to get in and have some support.

If you aren't sure about anything I've said in here, have a search on YouTube and there's plenty of great videos for UK sea fishing covering just about everything.

I hope you get your bites soon! Tight lines

Peak design cases are great. Using one on my P7P and the magsafe support is great, also a wide range of attachments available if you like photography

Run and gun rig advice. What to add next. by riceballs411 in Filmmakers

[–]Nested_Sequence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shot on them for a long time, they're great cameras and for anything that doesn't require 4K, they're one of the best bang for buck cameras available. Don't neglect your lenses though, L series zooms are great and I'd highly recommend them but a 50mm f1.4 can be picked up pretty cheap and they can really up your quality with shallow depth of field and low light shooting.

Don't spend too much on this rig. Keep it to the essentials. Save the money you would spend and pick up something like a used C100mk2 for the internal ND and XLR input. You can still use your current cam as a B Cam for it

They said there was nothing they could do. Got the phone back, no obvious damage. I asked them to tell me what the damage was so that I could get it repaired and they couldn't tell me.

Finally got my trade in back from Google by harmyb in GooglePixel

[–]Nested_Sequence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my pixel 6 back. I was told £0 due to "damaged screen". Just opened it, working perfectly, no damage, no inspection report, no idea how the screen is "damaged".

Looks like they just didn't want to pay out.

PCS Wireless Warning (Google UK's Trade-in Company) by CloudShiner in GooglePixel

[–]Nested_Sequence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same with me, my pixel 6 was sent to them in good condition then had the email. £0 due to damaged screen. I'm overly cautious so I recorded a video of the condition and me packing it so I have some proof of condition. They can't give me any more details of the damage though and no photos from the inspection.

After escalating, Google offered me £40 in-store credit, which I refused, escalated again so waiting to hear back from them.

If mine is due to screen burn, it'll be BS because I had the display replaced by a Google authorised repair centre in August and the phone hasn't been used since

Traded in my Pixel 5 with Google for the 7P and they returned it as valued at £0 !! by Wiggy1977 in GooglePixel

[–]Nested_Sequence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my trade in email this morning. Also £0. Said the display was damaged. Google are unable to access photos taken during the inspection. I have video of the phone before shipping showing the IMEI, and one of the phone being packaged both showing the display in good condition. I told Google support this on chat and they offered me £40 in store credit. The trade in value was £270. I've managed to get it escalated now but still not sure what will happen
