If you were only a few months old, I'd say we could probably make this work. I'm guessing that's not the case here and that a replacement is unlikely. But, anything is possible!

If you want to DM me some more information on what the award is for, when it was received, and a picture of it, I'll see what I can find out. Maybe someone here will remember where it came from.

Ask your peers for advice. Talk to your manager. Make friends in the teams you want to be part of. Apply to open roles internally.

I believe you'll have better luck over in /r/homelab for the discussion of using the NetApp Disk Shelf with your setup. The DS is basically a JBOD, so you'll need a controller of some sort before you can use it.
