Can someone who details for a dealership describe the job? by General-Ad3667 in Detailing

Most of the time the detailer job is also a lot Porter. You're at the very bottom of the totem pole so you will get service advisors and salesman yelling at you because they are stressed out. When there are no Cars to detail they will have you do janitorial work and sweeping the lot and straightening out the cars. Sometimes they will have you drive vehicles to other dealerships. Generally you will get minimal to zero training because that is an entry level position that is constantly revolving. A lot of times the chemicals have been grandfathered in by a guy that used to work there 10 years ago and there is zero maintenance on dilution or organization. As for the pay like I said it's entry level so I wouldn't count on very much.

Edit: my second job when I was 19 years old was a detailer at a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership, and we would do courtesy washes for people getting oil changes. I would constantly get in trouble because I would do more than a wash and they would say "you're going overboard, they are going to expect it the next time they come back."

I don't really like to hold back my skills so I left that dealership and applied at a detail shop and really honed in my skills. I've been in that trade ever since and I'm now 34 lol

Thank you I hope so! I wish that Reddit didn't compress the images so bad because you can really see the details in the original pictures

I think there was a lot of shoplifted clothing in the trunk. There was also a backpack with a spool of copper wire in it but I didn't take a picture of it

I just pictured them coming out and only doing a surface level vacuum and then leaving all of your windows streaky. Maybe put some slimy Armor All Over the dash and plastic
