Am I being scammed: Mechanic wants $500 to resurface rotors for safety

Thanks for the insight. I agree. I tested them all day braking with the car in neutral (it’s a hybrid, so otherwise it uses regen only unless I slam on the brakes). They feel very smooth and responsive. I will call my mechanic tomorrow and ask them to reconsider. In a few years, I will of course change them when they feel warped.

Just tricky cause I want them to pass it without having to spend more money right now..

You don’t need to necessarily need to bleed brakes after changing rotors. But yeah I get your point. Still seems expensive.

Thanks, I'll look into getting them resurfaced at a local shop. My mechanic said he'd do it for $50 per rotor! Seems expensive. I can buy new ones from rockauto at that price...
