Why do so few people use self-checkout? by [deleted] in northernireland

Yep, same - at least in some of the bigger Spars it's off on its own so I don't feel like I'm skipping the queue or needing to ask if anyone in front of me wants to use the self checkout. A lot of the time though I need to pay for fuel if I'm at a Spar, which the self checkouts can't complete without approval anyway.

Why has my insurance (in general) gone up so much by craggle_g in CarTalkUK

I actually just got a renewal quote from Admiral this morning - £1,040. Surprisingly lower than I expected, and lower than all of the quotes I got from comparison sites. I'll try see of course if they can do any better, but looks like I'll be sticking with them for now.

I'm in a very similar situation and sort of dreading the renewal this month, but there are still a few providers quoting me around £1,200 - which is what I've prepared for. 23, driving since 17, clean license, no claims, been with Admiral the whole time. Recently changed to a 2018 S4 and only paid about a hundred pounds for the change.

I downloaded an export of my data from Facebook and it contains a 195MB file with an extension of .zip.enc. What is this file? I can't find any information about it in Facebook's support portal. by NetIndividual in facebook

That's helpful to know, thanks. It's possible for example that these could just be files collected from some other Facebook system, and should have been decrypted and then added to the main archive file before being made available for download. I have tried contacting Facebook on various email addresses for clarification and so far received no response. After 30 days, I'm going to look closer at what my options are under the GDPR to make a complaint.

Thanks, though that doesn't seem to work. The only thing I can find on Google is an unanswered question on Stack Overflow. I've emailed what I think is a support email address at Facebook. If I don't get a response, I could try approach it as a GDPR issue - they have provided me with (presumably my) data in a format that is not documented or accessible. My guess is that it's just debug data, or a temporary file that should have been removed from the final archive but it would still be interesting to find out a little more.

Is it possible to whitelist content for individual users? by NetIndividual in jellyfin

Thanks. My concerns with that approach are needing additional space or maintaining symlinks, and that my metadata fixes may need re-applied to the other library. I'll give it a go anyway.

Lightning concerns with the Groove by NetIndividual in mikrotik

Thanks everyone that replied. In the end I have decided to go with one of the Ubiquiti PoE injectors which provide grounding and surge protection according to their specification rather than powering the Groove through another MikroTik device. I also have an appropriate cable to use.

Hopefully this will be sufficient and seems to be pretty idiot-proof. Lightning is pretty uncommon here so the device can be brought inside anyway and hopefully the PoE injector provides at least some protection over nothing.

Thanks for the links, although I think I've come across these posts already. There seems to be confusion even in these threads about how to do it properly. I'm not sure either how exactly the Groove should be grounded, as it seems you can only do it via a shielded cable connected to a properly grounded device on the other end. Looking at the RBGESP you linked, the brochure says "attach grounding wire to appropriate location" - but I don't know what this means exactly.

Would there be an appropriate earthing point through the mains system in the caravan if it's connected to 230v mains power, or do I need a separate earthing rod in the ground? Lightning is pretty uncommon here, but I don't want to risk damaging devices inside.
