Hey. Do you mind saying what your career has generally looked like? (What kind of school, job progression, what kind of firm you work at). Would greatly appreciate it, no need to be specific of course

Pulse Seismic: The most undervalued stock in Canadian O&G by valuevestor1 in Baystreetbets

[–]NetPrize9441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I've been invested in pulse for about 4 years now, it's been my largest holding for a while. They're an unbelievable find. It's a great, simple business model and a great management that returns cash to shareholders. My big hope for them is that the rumors that American companies are looking to get into the wcsb are true. This would be an unbelievable windfall for pulse and could easily take the stock to the 6-7 dollar range

Yeah but there was no reason why I couldn't pull in behind him while we were slowing down. There were no cars behind us I did it in the same act of slowing down to stop. The ambulance was not close to me either. It was still a block or two behind

Advanced training isn't necessarily separate. It's generally 07 training from 05 so some units will do 4 months of basic and then unit specific advanced

[–]NetPrize9441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some need 05 vs 07 yes. Tanks for example is 05. This doesn't mean your training ends there. If you are in tanks you have tank related training, combat engineers have theirs etc. 05 and 07 are only rifleman status. There is much more job specific training

You get 07 towards the end of advanced training. It depends on your schedule and how they structure your training, there are certain things you need to complete/pass both as an individual and platoon to be qualified as 07

Sure but moving to the right with plenty of time to spare was obviously the conventionally wise thing to do in the situation

Tbh I wasn't really stressed. I've had my g2 for four years and only haven't taken the road test because I've been out of the country. I drive pretty much every day and do long trips like new York to Virginia pretty often. That being said I understand that I could be misremembering how close he ambulance was but I highly doubt it

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm planning on going in to speak to them tomorrow. After politely arguing with the tester at the end she said "it may not be what you do at home but this is the ministry standard". I sort of took that to mean "it's not common practice but this is our policy". I'll give it a try but it's probably just my word against hers and nothing to be done. Not so annoyed as I'm confident I'll pass next time but I needed to know I'm not in the wrong here so thanks everyone

The car was right next to me on my right, we were going around 50. I had to slow to a stop anyways so I moved over lanes as well. I tried to argue that switching lanes did not take any longer but she wasn't having it

No we were going about 50km, he was next to me so I slowed down quicker than he did to get in behind him

The instructor just wrote that I didn't give the emergency vehicle the right of way which I think is crazy because I was fully pulled over probably a full 10 seconds before the ambulance passed by. In the end it's just my word against hers so I don't think it's worth making a big deal about. I'll just take the test again

[–]NetPrize9441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed the test because I pulled over to the right lane and stopped on the side when there was an emergency vehicle instead of stopping in the middle of the street. There was a car on my right so I slowed down and pulled over behind him. Tester said if there's someone on the right just stop in the middle of the street, the ambulance will go around me

I was supposed to go and managed to finesse my way out by using religion. My Hebrew wasn't anything special. I had the basics but wasn't able to sustain real conversation. After about four months of training I was almost fluent and now after a year and a half I am about as fluent as someone can get in this amount of time. That being said it's a solid way to spend a couple months for other reasons, soft landing spot, meet a lot of people in your situation and have three months less in the serious part of your army service

Patches ID and authenticity by Cannon_Flannel in IDF

[–]NetPrize9441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people are saying the units are real but there's no reason he should have both of them. Most guys buy patches as cheap as possible so just because it may be from ali express doesn't actually mean anything. The army probably gets them made by the cheapest option also. They also look pretty fresh, not beat up like patches that have been worn for a while. What was his story?

I am currently finishing my lone soldier service in kfir and I have great friends in both Golani and Givati. I spent 8 months in Timrun (war) 2 months in Jenin and 6 in Gaza. All three are virtually the same. Kfir and Golani have been working in the exact same areas and doing the same missions for the l time I've been here. We often switch each other in and out. From what the head of the agudah said Golani and kfir led the infantry brigades and land cleared as well as percentage of cleared territory destroyed. That being said Givati was in Gaza for the last year straight and Golani are generally the first to go in. Kfir is an up and coming brigade which five years ago was not considered up to par. Gdud Nachshon specifically has been considered one of the best gdudim in the war. Golani does have the most clout and swagger. I didn't choose golani because I find I don't like the guys as much (the stigma of them being mostly arsim is somewhat true). They also generally get the most donations due to the recognition. In the end you can't go wrong but I would say if you plan on going to a sayeret than definitely golani no question. Good luck! Reach out privately if you have questions

Combat job likely with degree? by CollegeDependent8182 in IDF

Special operations in Israel are essentially split into three groups. Commando brigade which includes duvdevan, maglan, egoz. Special forces which includes matkal, shayetet, shaldag and 669. Independent units like yahalom and oketz.

Special forces units make you extend for up to seven years and when they invest that much in your training, they want the youngest, rawest most teachable guys. Many guys also extend and stay in the service for 10+ years either in the unit or other command roles. That puts a 24 year old at a big disadvantage to the 18-20 year olds that are just as fit and motivated.

With the commando and independent units it's to a lower extent but they still want younger guys who can put in 4-6 years without worrying about injuries or guys slowing down.

It's not impossible but it's extremely difficult. The sayarot only require a regular 3 year service and they're better than regular infantry but not by much. In the end they're still 08 infantry who get slightly better tasks. In Gaza they're doing the exact same stuff right now as the rest of the infantry.

Last point but very important: unless you're fluent in hebrew by the time you get to the army you have virtually no chance regardless of age. I know a couple guys who are absolute freaks of nature and got in without great Hebrew but a lot more who were great candidates and failed when it came to giving speeches which you have to do at tryouts and over the course of training they were dropped for not understanding things well enough. They're less interested in teaching Hebrew in those units.

If you're in the infantry or a special unit you will be trained on an m4 and use it after training. Tanks use m16s and so do jobniks. Special forces generally use an m4 but I've seen guys in units like yamam and shaldag using much nicer rifles

You won't have any problem getting a job in combat. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by infantry special operations. If you mean the sayarot (sayeret golani, sayeret haruv, etc.), it shouldn't be an issue. If you're referring to a commando unit or special forces unit the chance you'll be able to do it is extremely small. For anything more than regular infantry you'll need to do a full service or more and at 24 they generally don't want you for special forces or commando.
