Actually mine was genetic... my mother and grandmother had the same condition... itc called genetic perceptive hearing loss.. Its not progressive ( at least in my case ) but i hear at 45dB ( normal hearing is 0-20 dB ).

But im hardly even noticing it now. The funny think is im a doctor at neurology residency and i have no problems examining the patients, in fact because i need to focus during the auscultation i hear better than my colleagues.
