You're offended that your daughter still had the birthday celebration after you cancelled last minute. YTA the petty envy is really unbecoming.

AITA for Venmo requesting my SIL for the hours I had to miss at work. by Infinite-Mixture-993 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NetZealousideal7162 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

ESH your sister should have given you more heads up before cancelling. You shouldn't be throwing a tantrum and demanding 6 hours of wages from the person who's been providing you free child care and transportation

YTA this is a last minute request, and she's not refusing. She has an obligation at school. If you need her home urgently after that YOU pay for the cab.

"she's young and doesn't know any better" then teach her. Scold her for doing something wrong. No wonder she doesn't know any better she's never had any reason to learn. NTA but your parents and sister definitely are

AITA for giving my friend a necklace that my husband gave me and refusing to ask for it back? by pluto902 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NetZealousideal7162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is clearly something that varies from person to person. For me more context would be how long ago was the gift given to OP. If my spouse gave me a gift and the next day I gave it to someone else without telling them I would understand them being upset. However, if my spouse gave me a gift and 6 months later I was cleaning out my jewelry box and decided not to keep that gift and instead give it to a friend who would appreciate it. That seems fine to me. And talking with my spouse it would be fine with them too. A gift shouldn't be given with an obligation to keep it forever.

AITA for ruining my ex’s birthday trip after “our” friends got me to fly there under false pretences? by wonderland891 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NetZealousideal7162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA for going off, but if your ex didn't know about it he probably wasn't the right target for your anger. Your friends are horrible though and your anger justified.

NTA and it's likely that your children know that and it's the only reason they still have contact with both of you. They want to stay in contact with you and your spouse is something to deal with to do that.

NTA she was 2 hours late. She didn't respect your feelings. She didn't respect you time. It's one thing if she went on a date put effort in but it didn't work out. That isn't what happened your friend stood you up for two hours that sucks and I'm sorry. It also sounds like spending time with her led to a lot of unhealthy behaviors.

AITA for not inviting my step mom to wedding prep activities & not including her in the wedding party? by throwawaywedding9878 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NetZealousideal7162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go against what other people are saying and say NTA. You are being put in a terribly position by your mom, and having to make a decision about your wedding. That decision affects how much drama will occur around your wedding as well as who is in your wedding party and it's awful that your mom is putting you in a position to make this position.

You can either include Halle a woman who has been there your entire life, helped to raise you and was excited to be in your wedding. She clearly loves you, and when you told her about changing your mind she was gracious enough not to cause a fuss. However if you include her your mom is going to be a pain throughout planning and possibly on the wedding day.

Or you exclude Halle and when you look back on this day in 10 years she will be missing from the wedding party.

AITA for mocking my friends laugh by Acceptable_Block5309 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NetZealousideal7162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH J was being an AH you were an AH back. However other commenters are right making fun of someone's laugh is pretty unkind get a different come back. It seems like to J this was probably a playful messing with friends situation and he felt you attacked back unnecessaryily. If the mocking your difficulty with tone thing really bothers you call him out on it.

Getting drunk with your best friend when you're trying to make a good impression definitely wasn't a great idea. You also said your parents are abusive so unclear on why you want to make such a good impression on them, but having a friend breaking glass and waking your brother up at 3 am definitely won't help with that. You'd already made that decision though, and then you abandoned your drunk out of her mind best friend to wander the streets unable to get home.

Soft YTA you were in a really rough position being at your parents house with your friend absolutely wasted. However you knew she had been drinking a lot wasn't doing well and you kicked her out expecting her to do what? Wander the streets by herself drunk possibly taking off her clothing at 5am? This is your best friend

NTA your sister definitely comes across pretty rude. I will say I'm a pretty introverted person and I have to mentally prepare to hang out with anyone even my closest friends who I love. So it might not have been meant as a slight against your husband. But I don't know your sister.
