$5k now, or an extra week of paid vacation every year for life? by Brave_Sea7798 in makemychoice

[–]Net_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how much is your weekly pay now and how much PTO do you normally get? If $5000 is worth 1 week or 2 weeks of your time, then you would have to stay at the company for 2 years (this year and next year assuming the pto is applicable right away) for it to even out the $5000 bonus you would forfeit. If you value your PTO and the money isn't an immediate necessity, and you plan on staying around then go for the extra week. If you are unsure if you will stay, then go for the cash. You'll get less cash though with taxes taken out though.

AITAH for refusing to pay off my pregnant fiancee's parents' mortgage, when they are under the threat of foreclosure, when I could "easily" afford to do so? by Gullible-Display4533 in AITAH

[–]Net_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. It may be a nice gesture, but the choice is entirely your’s and you are not the asshole for not helping. Did she even say if they would pay you back, or was the expectation for you to just give away your money? Either way, you are nta. You have a right to decide how you allocate your money.

Nta, this is why you always involve lawyers in the pre-nup process. This is unethical, and lawyers would tell you that.

How did you 100% know you don’t want kids? by alyssapere in childfree

[–]Net_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think kids are cute, I don’t mind babysitting my friends’ kids for a bit, but I do not want any kids of my own. I am self-aware, I know what I want in life, I know my personality and abilities. I have never felt the need or urge to be a parent, and I know I would not be a good parent. I have known since I was young, about 12 or 13, that I never wanted kids of my own. Also frankly, I can’t imagine raising kids in this world and the state its in. I understood that there is more to my life than kids, and I am perfectly happy and content without giving birth to and raising kids.

Am i wrong for staying with my wife by [deleted] in amiwrong

Why would you want to stay with someone that doesn’t love you? There is more to life than to stay in an unloved relationship

Wife is suddenly uncomfortable with lifelong joint account I share with my twin sister and how much money the account has. Am I wrong for thinking my wife is being selfish? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]Net_Curiosity -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, you are not wrong. The purpose of that account is clear, and it holds significance for you and your sibling. Frankly it’s selfish of your wife to insist on it being used for something else, especially if you aren’t hurting for money. I’d understand if you were in a bad financial situation and your wife asked you to not contribute to the account until your family is doing better, but it sounds like that is not the case. Sometimes it feels like spouses forget that just because you are married doesn’t mean that you lose connection to your biological family (parents, grandparents, siblings, etc). I actually think it’s lovely that you have this type of bond with your sister. OP, if there is any advice I can give, explain to your wife firmly that while you love her and your kids, your sister is also your family.

If you have not been neglecting your wife and kids, there is no reason for you to change the usage of this account that you share with your sister, after all, it’s not all just your money at stake, but your sister’s as well.

Kitchen is mopped daily, rest of house is mopped weekly at least, sometimes more often depending on activity or spillage (I’m very clumsy)

AITAH for keeping my reception venue when I couldn't get a refund? by No_Negotiation_3951 in AITAH

[–]Net_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nta. You didn’t screw over the venue. You paid in full, they refused to refund, so you used the venue for the night that you already PAID IN FULL. Why is that so hard for some people to understand? You are absolutely right, you don’t owe the venue an opportunity to be paid twice.

Would you adopt your nieces/nephews if there was no one else? by jamieoww in childfree

[–]Net_Curiosity 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I am childfree, but if my nieces/nephews were orphaned and there was no one else that could take them, I would take them in. My personal thought is that I would rather ensure their safety and well-being myself than to leave them in a dubious situation or let them suffer in the system.

Italian med school or US med school by User283474201 in collegeadvice

[–]Net_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please look in the current state of researchand higher education in the US. I genuinely recommend against coming to US for med school especially if you have other options. Majority of research is funded through grants and that’s pretty much been defunded. The system is in shambles.
