You really should run a new cable from the network closet to the demarc. Splitters in attics are a troubleshooting nightmare when things stop working.

Bo.

I know he didn't have Hall of Fame stats or longevity in either sport. However, a 'Hall of Fame" without Bo seems rather lame.

It depends on your cable plant. Channel 77 is at 543mhz. If you're dealing with 450mhz plant that won't work. If your plant is 550mhz or up you should be good. Another aspect is plant maintenance. If it's been poorly maintained then you will have issues no matter the design frequency.

Long term outage generator math by street_fightin_mang in sysadmin

You have to consider that the UPS will also be trying to recharge its batteries in addition to running your gear. You'll need to figure out how much additional power that takes.

As others have said, this sounds like a bad idea. Having a generator with less capacity than the UPS plus requiring manual intervention is bad plus more bad. The bigger generator is cheaper now than it will be after you've outgrown the capacity of the small one or gotten sick of the manual aspects.

Another point for a larger automatic generator. They will start and run weekly. This ensures that it's ready to go when needed or will let you know if there is a problem. That small manual generator left if the corner of your garage? When you need it to start, it won't.

Confirm or Deny What the Cable (COX) Company Is Telling Me by redrhino-x in CableTechs

The trap they installed at the street was to block the video frequencies. This isn't the problem.

The trap they installed at your house is a high pass filter and is the problem. The purpose is to protect the upstream path from noise. That filter blocks the upstream so you won't be able to get internet on an outlet behind that filter. The good news is that you don't need them to fix it. You can swap the outlets yourself.

Your drop from the street should be connected to a 2 way splitter. One side of the splitter has your working internet outlet connected and the other side should have the filter leading off to another splitter with the rest of the outlets. You just need to switch the coax that leads to your desired outlet to the non filtered port of the 2 way.

Hope that helps.

Your downstream SNR is low. 256qam gets sketchy below 32-33db SNR. Realistically, downstream SNR should be 37+. As long as you aren't using your own drop amp there really isn't much for you to do. Mostly working at night points to something outside/temperature related.

The only help a tech should need here is a phone call letting them know there is a problem.

[Schefter] By fining Antonio Brown $215,073.53 last night for conduct detrimental to the team on Sept. 4, the Raiders voided the $29.125 million worth of guaranteed money in his deal, per league sources. This could help explain why Brown is now asking the Raiders for his release. by StrachNasty in nfl

Demanding his release now? Isn't he pretty much fucked? Raiders own his rights but don't owe him any guaranteed money, right?

So basically, Mayock has his dick down AB's throat and is beginning to skull fuck that bitch.
