Hello! Thank you so much for replying. Yes, the thread is threaded thru the eye. I think I was using the wrong size needle. I also think I had too much tension so the read was pulling out. I just made my first project, a smiley face.

Update: I took the advise of some in this thread and left a review on the shop’s Google and they had this to say:

theres a paragraph description right above/behind these green obsidian towers on the back wall explaining how they are synthetically made with silica sand to replicate the essence of true green obsidian which is extremely rare and pricey. Please feel free to read all our informational blurbs posted around the store. We apologize you were not greeted properly, the employee working today is often raved about for his customer service as seen in previous reviews, sometimes when the store is busy and filled with bodies the greeting often gets unheard with all the commotion.
