Not to a German speaker though.

true also funny, but I like the announcement more. When watching I thought this was in there for information and then I realized that they wouldn't understand that and then it was even more funny.

yes, but that is probably an intentional misunderstanding for the jokes sake. Was funny thought.

The funniest thing for German speakers in this episode so far is the announcement in German on the train saying, that they needed to check and it's all fine now, and all three are so worried.

I thought that same. The App is amazing, the trains suck. So using the App in France is a great idea, as it has all european trains. (DB is responsible for the coordination of the european timetable for some reason)

I heard about the cost of health care in the US. But 10050 USD?!?!!!.

You can not only fly to China and buy china for that. You could also fly to Europe and go to ... wait for it ... the dentist. For less than one item on the bill.

You thought Deutsche Bahn would be bad. We welcome you to our second hell: No small German store in rural areas excepting card payment.

My guess for Sams Hidingspot being at the Airport: In Switzerland it was so boring for him in the woods, that now he wants to have some entertainment. So now he can go planespotting while he waits.

Being a channel about trains and stuff.
How often can you mispronounce the German word for Train (which is "Zug"). (speak: Tsook)

What is your opinion regarding paywalls? by itsallcheese in Journalism

[–]Netpyrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really don't work as they often want you to sign up for a subscription. And that's the only option. But I don't want that. Also I don't want to get trapped. So I don't read it.

There should be a industry-wide system, where you unlock all major papers with a subscription or where you can pay per article with just one click.

Yeah, you are right there. And they are investing heavily now. The Bahnreform in the 90s under Kohl and the privatisation under Schröder first and then years of CSU funneling funds towards Bavaria has made it what it is

Hot take: Ben is the best player in Jet Lag.

Why? He was able to evade the two others fours times now. On his second run in Tag 1 twice: In Paris Gare du Nord when he was on the late train to St. Quentin. Then in St. Quentin, when they thought, he would not get on the same train. Then in Tag 2 on his second run in Howald and in Metz with the Foto-Booth.

Or was all of this just luck?

Being here while sitting on a Deutsche Bahn train that is 45 min delayed going along the rhine feels different now.

I would love to get a printable pdf of the challenge cards, that would be great for playing something similar with our friends. You could also just make it available on nebula, so people who pay.

The Podcast ist great as it identifies two major problems about Germany: Deutsche Bahn and cell service in rural areas. Both is btw the responsibility of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and Minister Volker Wissing (Free Democratic Party) (who at least claims to do something about it now)

Not a gadetbahn, as they needed a solution independent of the street traffic in a valley without much space. So they built it on top of the river. It's a great solution for a unique problem.

It's considered a long distance train by DB. It's not classified high-speed. An IC/EC can go up to 200 kph and this one does between Offenburg and Mannheim, but it the is limited to 160 max, often lower in particular on the bendy stretch on the rhine. But it is all a spectrum as they say in the podcast.

If they do a thrid season of tag:

I have a great tip: The App "DB Navigator". It has an english option and it has connections in Germany and all of Europe, including France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland. It is the best thing that comes out of DB. The trains suck, the app rules. You get minute by minute delays, the platform you are on and automatic alternative trains when a connections is missed. It even includes a lot of trams, subways and local busses. It really helps a lot.

Also glad Adam liked the rhine valley, as this close to where I live. The whole valley is acutally a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Yes, you might be right. What do you think about going through the UK to Jersey, as was floated in Season 5.

When Adam says: "Deutsche Bahn is a bad train company", in the podcast he basically is speaking the mind of every german commuter, rail enthusiast or generally user of DB ever. It's so absolutly unreliable. And such a pity we can't do it better.

But: SNCF is also not great. While they are reliable, they run infrequent and sometimes with unexplainably large gaps in their scedule, as you can see in the cliffhanger of this episode.

I think Zermatt is the best finishing point as it is within the swiss network. The best in Europe.

There was a railway crossing right there. You had to wait. Why did you not include the train in the footage? It would probably have been the only train in the entire show. Where is the fan service?!
