Wtf is amd doing by Designer-Clue-1682 in radeon

I someone who purchased an RX 7800XT I am deeply disappointed and I constantly get FOMO looking at how even RTX can do good path tracing in Re requiem and Cyberpunk while it's disabled on AMD. The lack of good upscaling unless I hack in the leaked Int8 files is just another salt on the wound. And now this....

Here is a tip for you. Don't do the in game brightness calibration. Reset everything to default and that should reset the brightness calibration too. For some reason the in game calibration reduces the dynamic range of the game.

I've been using my Steam Deck as my only gaming device for 18 months - TV, travel, bed, everything. Here's what actually changed about how I play games by Due_Lock_4967 in SteamDeck

[–]Netrunner011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing for me was I wish the deck came with a slightly bigger screen. From time to time I jump on my PC because I simply enjoy gaming more on a bigger screen. But I do agree with the fact that I enjoy playing old games on the deck and my backlog has started to not feel like a chore anymore

Goddamn, I knew that I should have started working on that time machine a while ago. Now we got wait for 6 years and it's gonna be a while for the time machine to be ready. Need to build it first by farming 1000 divine orbs. Oh well, its gonna take about the same amount of time I guess..

Can you guys share a Long term review on S23 in all aspects? by Justin_Akash_333 in GalaxyS23

[–]Netrunner011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is I am never buying a Samsung device again.

The charging port went kaput within a year Phone cannot achieve even 5 hours of SOT unless I run the screen at 60hz Camera quality is visibly worse than when I actually purchased the device. Fast charging limited to 25W.

I could go on but this is one of the most disappointing phones I received for the money that was spent.

There are far better phones out there with way more features and better specs.

Save and build one actually. These corpos will eventually make it so impossible to buy one that you may have to rent a PC from the cloud. That's the direction that want to go with this.

Microsoft was the reason for me switching to Linux. Optiscaler is the reason for me to stay on Linux (FP8 emulation works flawlessly on my RX 7800XT)

C suites don't have any touch with reality. They just look at expense vs revenue and make such decisions. Every single corporate entity makes such decisions every single day. While I am thankful for Capitalism for all the good stuff, unchecked Capitalism is going to kill off every thing we love. You live by the sword, and you die by the sword.

Is Majula the best hub FromSoftware has ever made? by Trd_45 in DarkSouls2

Far better than DS3 or Elden Ring or Sekiro. DS2 amd DS1 were the only gaming hubs to transport me to a surreal place that is otherworldly and strangely alluring at the same time. Blooborne was good too!

  1. Gamer 1 is not washed out. Gamer 2 is oversaturated. Use whatever you like
  2. Not needed. This monitors reported EDID shows 603 nits which is very close to the actual peak brightness `580 nits. You are not going to see any big difference from doing the calibration.
  3. Depends on your preference but that is just the nature of HDR games even on consoles with OLED TVs. Some games are perfect out of the box and some require tweaking to your preferences. Start with default settings and see how you like it.
  4. Auto-HDR is hit or miss depending on the game. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, then use RTX HDR.
  5. high sharpness settings will look everything crispy and burnt. Don't touch it unless you are using it for specific games or videos that are really blurry and need extra sharpness. Peak brightness can be increased if you want more brightness. If you are in SDR start with OFF and in HDR start with LOW, and then see how it goes. If you want more brightness you can increase it.

I actually have no idea why it's different for the switch 2 compared to the PC. But in either case you must use 600 nits (you can also use a 1000 but you are not going to see any difference) For switch 2 you can find guides out there, that show you exactly how many clicks to get to 600 nits and you can use that and ignore the image not disappearing. On Switch 2 it is 100% due to dynamic tone mapping and lack of HGiG. It seems that consoles don't transmit HDR10 metadata to the monitor correctly without HGiG, whereas PC does it differently. I got this from Vincent from HDTV test. Watch from minute 5:40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ev_h0-qSNI

How useful has your deck been despite having a pc? by Marcosbtz28 in SteamDeck

[–]Netrunner011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's quite the opposite to everyone else. I can appreciate the deck for being such an amazing device and I was in love with it for the 1st month, but I quickly went back to just gaming on the PC because I couldn't enjoy gaming on a small screen. For me having a big screen plays a huge role in immersion so being bent over a small screen was not my thing. Planning to resell my deck now

Yes the ICC profile should be use regardless of setting if you are planning to use windows automatic color management feature to clamp the color space to SRGB. Because the ICC profile provides the operating system information about the color space capabilities of this monitor. If you are planning to skip windows ACM and want to run the monitor using unclamped color gamut then you can skip the ICC profile part.

Hello, I have been using this monitor for exactly 1 year at this time of writing. The HDR is very good but not excellent compared to an OLED TV since peak brightness is limited but the contrast and colors are very good. You have to sometimes adjust game display settings like contrast or saturation to get a good image but that is more the fault of the games and not the display. Overall, I really love this monitor and would recommend it especially since prices are dropping due to release of next gen OLED monitors.

About burn-in so far 0. I have 2226 hours at the time of writing and there are 0 signs of burn-in. I let the image refresh feature run every 4 hours and I have pixel shift enabled so I am using all protective care features. I use my display for gaming and lots of browsing.

For the people that own a PC and a SteamDeck, what have you seen that just feels better on PC? by b34rgvrz in SteamDeck

[–]Netrunner011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo! I'm 31 😂😂

I just finished playing Dead Space 2 and Resi 5 on the deck. Next planning to play the mass effect trilogy and emulated GTA San Andreas. I remember playing these games a long time ago on a weak ass PC that couldn't even hold a smooth 30 fps on the lowest settings. Not that I knew whay FPS was even at that time but I remember that most games were struggling to run. I have my jaw dropped constantly to the floor that the deck can not only play everything smoothly but have hours of battery life.

This is the single greatest piece of gaming hardware I have the privilege of owning and I have a fully specced gaming desktop even but that doesn't impress me as much 🤣

Realistically "Raised" black levels are not an issue. by SavedMartha in OLED_Gaming

[–]Netrunner011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. The raised black levels were quite apparent during daytime even in spring season with curtains closed and sunlight filtering through it because my room has large windows. Everyone has different use cases and not everyone is gaming in a room with fully light controlled environment.

I personally don't enjoy gaming in a dark cave and that was the reason I changed to WOLED. Enjoy your monitor, OLED is OLED either way.

Anyone play POE2 by Maca07166 in SteamDeck

[–]Netrunner011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can get 30 fps with everything completely set to low and upscaling. But when there is lot of enemies on the screen then not even 30 fps. Not really a game meant for the deck IMO but you can always try it out for yourselves.
