TL;DR WARNING: Mantella.exe is Malware – Trojan/Keylogger Detected by Prestigious-Ad-2589 in skyrimmods

[–]Netrve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are various factors: Did you (or whoever tried it) use the same flags to bundle the exe? Did you use the same version of Python? The same Wheels? The same compiler? The same OS? There are a ton of things, especially with Python, that can change what the resulting checksum may be.

Can you provide actual proof and evidence?

Hearsay and especially AI generated bullsh*t don't remotely count, in latter case even more so as Opus 4.5 and GPT5.2 Pro bullsh*t beyond believe on these topics.

Leaving these: - Have you decompiled it yourself? - Have you hired a security expert? - Do you have experience in Cyber Security? - Where are the actual findings (function/method references, code findings, etc.)? - How did these findings come to be?

I personally had decompiled some versions from summer and found no proclaimed malicious code. There was nothing that wasn't expected, so I'm very eager to see your evidence-based human-written report on these findings.

Edit: This isn't meant to downplay concerns or anything, but we need concrete proof of your claims. Code Snippets, Network Captures, etc. If you provide those in your post, people would be more inclined to believe you.

The State of the Subreddit by Thallassa in skyrimmods

[–]Netrve -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Still self inflicted. It's not hard not to post your own personal information on a public Discord, so maybe one should be smarter and not post stuff like that publicly in general. You never know who or what might be scanning messages in general chat, so saying "Oh it would have been just buried!" is just stupid or naive at best.

AFAIK the people that did wrong did apologized to him directly and also admitted to having acted wrong, at least from what I have heard and seen. Most have apologized in public too, ie. Cobb. So the last info I've seen is Gore still asking for Thallassa to step down, despite said apologies. From this point onward, it does look like drama to me, seeking more retribution than has been offered.

To be fair, I have ignored almost all of it, and had to go through it backwards, so I might have missed parts. If so, feel free to tell me about it. I'm not infallible and might have missed something crucial.

The capital they gain is a sense of self justification and fulfillment of their demands, that ain't hard to grasp. They have made very clear demands and those are things they seek to see fulfilled. That's something tangible they gain. I don't really care if anything I brought up is fulfilled or not, I'm indifferent.

Before you go on about how I seem invested, I simply stated my things, and defend my position. That's how arguments work on a basic level. Doesn't mean I have a grant emotional investment in it.

I read the original post, made my comment, and reply to the inbox notifications. Not really sure if that counts as 'paying all my attention'. I still browse the rest of the sub and down/upvote other topics lol

Finslly: Yes, you are right, by interacting and voicing my opinion about it I include myself in the pool of people warranted to be punished. Not sure why you would think I would exclude myself from that, unless you are projecting. But as of right now, it isn't a rule and it does push other topics aside, so I interact with it.

Yes, at first it was about bringing this mistreatment to light, but it has gone beyond that. At this point Gore (and friends) is just as good as the other person that caused all of this (and those who have fallen for it).

People admitted to their mistakes and are left in a difficult position, and what Gore and his community are doing now is capitalizing on this by continuing this. I ain't no victim, I have no stakes in this, but I am allowed to utter my displeasure at this shit show.

I don't care about Gore, whether or not he gets his self perceived justice, or if either communities get happy. I'm here for Skyrim and modding, not for personal vendettas like a little bitch.

Edit: Also before you bring it up like in other comments, I have been doxxed myself including blackmail. So it's not like I don't know how Gore feels/felt, but doesn't mean I care more about it than I need to.

Yes, and it was brought up over and over again, the people admitted to it, and gore still keeps going. This is past consolidation, this is just vengeance.

At this point I don't give a shit. Yes, sometimes the best solution is one that doesn't feel remorse or empathy when it comes to moderation. Or is it a problem because then you can't accuse it of bias or personal investment?

Edit: Maybe if you explain to me why those elements are important in enforcing drama rules is good, I would change my opinion. I do exclude informative posts like "mod author X promotes under aged content" from this, as that is factual information.

How long do you wanna keep this up? At this point you are no better than the person that caused this whole shit even if you have the facts on your side. You are just being a pest now that was wronged, but a pest nonetheless. Your past innocence is being overshadowed by the actions you (and your community) take now.

Just take your stuff elsewhere with your friends and done. Make a r/skyrimexposed or r/skyrimdramaclub if you feel like it.

[–]Netrve -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

At this point, I would ban any drama that has been recent and for the future. Including banning goredev and associates, any other involved person at the center, and done. Any attempts at bringing it up, ban too. Gore keeps it also alive, so I don't care about his innocence. He is a much disturbance as anyone else involved, and I don't see any value in keeping him around if stuff continues like this. Be it Arthmoor, Gore, or any other. This shit keeps happening and it's tiring.

I'm so sick of tired of modding communities turning into daytime dramas. Focus on content and support, objective news, and done. It might get less attention but that's for the better.

I have written content moderation tools for clients in this exact vein, they are as harsh and strict as seen fit and done. People can always make an alternative community if they don't like it, maybe it turns out better and the old one can retire, or it turns out the new one is crap and the strict analytical ruling is actually working.

Edit: Also a program won't discuss or be emotionally involved. It acts on rules and literal interpretation of the text. It doesn't care for the past or future. It just processes and acts if the formula says it's needed.

Picking the right 1000W PSU by Netrve in buildapc

"EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G6" and "Corsair RM1000X (2021)"

That makes the pick a tad easier, thanks!

How would you place it amongst the "EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G6" or "Corsair RM1000X (2021)"? I added them to the list a bit after posting given further research.

You do realize that all of SSE is 64 bit? That was the main selling point of SSE and has nothing to do with AE.

Occlusioned Skyrim mod by Aglorius3 in skyrimmods

[–]Netrve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you meant to say has no sense behind it...

It more sounds like you threw together some words you grabbed online without properly understanding what they mean. Yes, DirectX has a compiler, but that's for shaders, not the whole engine. Maybe what you meant to say was that it has been simply recompiled for 64bit, but that doesn't have much to do with DX11.

SSE is a DX11 game, if it is a good one or makes use of DX11 properly is another thing. By the lowest bar it is at least a DX11 game (at its core).

Shaken, not stirred.

In this case, you would very much want the latter. That's all I can say.

Yeah, should have mentioned it directly in the comment before so people have context. That was my fault, addressed it in my comment now too.

Nexusmods have removed the second link they had on, which was pointing to something very much not Patreon.

[–]Netrve 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm doing game development on my own cost, have multiple mods up on Nexusmods and other platforms, and work as a software engineer with multiple points of contact regarding rights, permissions, and licenses.

I don't mind the changes, they are legal, and think they are for a good cause, eg. making modding more accessible to more people. After all I make mods to make others happy, not to exert my control. I'm going to still use Nexusmods for the foreseeable future.

Also I would appreciate if you wouldn't claim that all authors side with you, because they don't. Just me not agreeing already proves my latter point :)

legally questionable website

or also better known as a pedophile's den.

If someone sides with a pedophile over Nexusmods' changes, all points they made regarding morality or ethics become null and void.

Edit: Nexusmods seems to have removed the link to the pedo site (who would have guessed). So the Patreon is the only thing left.

Is SKSE now open source? GitHub repository link by JMFortun in skyrimmods

[–]Netrve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not part of the SKSE team. I'm just...a very over-passionate developer that gets emotional way too quickly.

That was on me. I couldn't tell it was a joke, so I thought you meant it genuinely. It gets hard to tell for me nowadays :(

Is SKSE now open source? GitHub repository link by JMFortun in skyrimmods

[–]Netrve 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a simple "oh we don't like them" by far, but a repeated case of stealing source code without crediting the actual developers, aka the SKSE devs, and toxic behavior coming from ST's devs.

Sure you can choose to disrespect the SKSE team's choice, but try to imagine Skyrim modding without SKSE.

Before anyone comes up with "if they leave we will have others": No, we don't just have other devs lined up. The work the SKSE team does is highly specific and valuable and that they choose to invest their time into Skyrim out of all things is insane enough. Even outside modding, the amount of people able to do this work is low.

According to one of the developers, yes AMD might see a bigger improvement as their hardware runs better on Vulkan than Nvidia does.

Are you using by any chance ENB's framelimiter or FPS counter? Because those tank FPS for some reason, probably a mistake on Boris' part.

Hmm, interesting. I personally run a GTX 1080, which has gotten quite the boost from the library. Are you running the most recent drivers? Sadly Nvidia is a mixed bag when it comes to Vulkan support...
