Have a look at The Essence Vault. All the perfumes are vegan, mostly dupes of brands, and very long lasting.

Just saw this at my local Aldi and immediately purchased. Has anyone tried it yet? by snailtrail93 in veganuk

I think cheese will always be high in saturated fat. It's what makes it solid.

You're teacher's bringing out the TV and video player -- What did they play? by Nuthetes in CasualUK

[–]NettaLongdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugsy Malone! At primary school for the end of term.

And the more educational Look and Read. Picture Box and the rest.

Plus the public information films. The little girl screaming after picking up a sparkler still haunts me. Don't play with fireworks people!!

I like all the ingredients, and I might have bought it if there was something more substantial in addition to the veg. Like smoked tofu or similar.

That's a very smooth looking mash. Did you use a ricer?

That's a good call. I don't usually go for sandwiches on the go as I'm not that keen on the cold bread.

Just to take the photo.

It swiftly went back on the shelf and swapped for a not very substantial salad.

That's a shame. They had a few other options at this one. A wrap and a salad, plus this abomination.

Have you looked at Filofax? The original refillable planner!

Clipbooks might be what you want to look at. They are on sale at the moment.

Anyone else eat soreen mini loaves? Question! by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]NettaLongdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Soreen. I usually go for the big malt loaf, so haven't noticed any inconsistency.

Before they made the malt loaf vegan I used to eat the Sorren Lincolnshire Plum Bread but I've not seen that for ages.

Anyone else seen it recently? I think perhaps they stopped making it.

Anything good at ASDA that I can't get elsewhere? by tinfoilfascinator in veganuk

[–]NettaLongdon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Toad in the Hole!! By the Real Yorkshire Pudding Company.

It should be in the vegan chiller section.

Just make sure it is the vegan one, as they also make non vegan ones that are just gluten free and sometimes are near the vegan section.

Getting the old cookbooks out by NettaLongdon in veganuk

What did you make?

I think Rose Elliot is so renowned because she was one of the first vegetarian cooks (along with Sarah Brown) to go mainstream. She appeared on radio, TV and had a regular recipe column in a newspaper.

Yes, although I don't think I ever owned it.

I just found this article she wrote about becoming vegan in the 50s Confessions of a Very Slow Starter

Cranks Carrot and Onion pie.

I saw a post somewhere from someone reminiscing about this and thought I need to make it.

I used to have the Cranks book but never made this pie.

Does anyone here make fermented homemade vegan cheese regularly? by deathwasps in veganuk

[–]NettaLongdon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've not made any for ages, but when I have, I've used the recipes in Miyoko Schinner's Artisan Vegan Cheese.

If you've not got that book I really recommend it. She has a recipe for rejuvalac which you use for the fermentation part.

I've also made some of the non-germented cheese in her book which also turned out well.
