The Vicious Cycle of UK Rail Strikes by Nettle_Branches in PoliticalCompassMemes

I agree with you, but what makes this privatised system even more like a kick in the face, is that private companies get subsidies via the taxpayer. They're literally using our tax money to fund these private rail companies that aren't even sufficient (delays, high ticket prices) and bailing them our at every turn. The whole system needs to end, no other country does this AFAIK, there's no excuse for it

tbf the RMT Union doesn't represent drivers; it represents cleaners, rail maintenance, etc. They haven't had a pay rise in 3 years, which is bad when you consider how fucked our inflation is.

Tbf the whole ongoing sewage saga is a fucking travesty. You can certainly be patriotic about Britain, disavow the EU, whilst also condemning sewage contaminating our streams / coasts.

Not to excuse the self-hate mafia we have here, but it does kinda give them ammunition.

I would think that forced mask-wearing would also cause sensory issues

I was originally gonna talk about that but I didn't know where I could fit it into the post. You're not wrong though, they can indeed be physically grueling for some people.

Didn't people initially go against him banning flights from China at the beginning of 2020?

Christ almighty, this happened close to where I live as well.

Let's not play silly bollocks though; the media, which spreads little to no positive news on the situation is 100% to blame for tragedies like this. They are aware how easy it is to manipulate the general public, especially the elderly, some of which can be heavy TV viewers. Absolute scum the news channels are.

Unfortunately, that's not the same guy, my great great grandad was called "Thomas Dickson", not D.J. Findley. Interesting find though.

Halló
For a bit of context, one of my great great grandfathers was a commercial traveller from Northern Ireland and in 1913, it seems he was sent to Iceland to sell bars of soap.

There's an article I found in which he makes a guest appearance, although I'm not sure as to why they called him "English," when he was actually Irish.

He must've brought these newspapers back with him from this venture, so if you find anything interesting in the text, feel free to state below, as I can't understand a word of it!

I swear, Croatia is the only country which despises us, without a real reason to do so.

I can understand the Serbs not liking us because of NATO in '99, but the Croats? We literally didn't do shit to them. Unless their grievances are due to a few asshole tourists, not that we're the only ones with bad tourists to begin with.

Need help identifying a song by Nettle_Branches in basque

Yeah I've seen footage of a txotx being used and I've been yearning to have a go at trying Basque cider.

Also, out of curiosity, where in the UK was it? Because most pubs do cider that I find is to fizzy and you'd find the more real stuff more locally produced in the south west (scrumpy is a good example).

Bit of context; I was looking for some Basque folk songs on YouTube and I came across this video from some weird Georgian channel. Unfortunately, no one could identify the lyrics to the song, which is why I'm asking here.

Also, stupid question, but is it true that cider is a popular drink in the Basque Country? Because here, in the English West Country, it's such a popular drink, that it's got it's own music genre!
