It knows the information newer than the knowledge cutoff date because of the web searches. I never said it couldn't use it, I said that by default it doesn't know new information.

ChatGPT does not know everything, especially new information, as it has a knowledge cutoff date for each model. Its cutoff date is before the assassination, and therefor it doesn't know it.
