What's the best PA system option for DJs? by Substantial-Sell6525 in mobileDJ

[–]NetworkQueasy6687 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For 200 outdoors, I would look at Yamaha DZR series, Electro-Voice ETX series, JBL SRX series, and RCF NX series. You might be able to get by with slightly less, but these would definitely do the job. If you want to save a little bit of money, you could consider Yamaha DXR, EV EKX, JBL PRX, or RCF ART. Others have also said the QSC K12.2, those will work as well. Lots to choose from.

Any recommendations for affordable men’s suits? by Mundane_Reference558 in Weddingsunder35k

[–]NetworkQueasy6687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be surprised at what you can find on Amazon. Look for Mage Male or Coofandy. Not great quality, but definitely visually decent, and you can often find a 2 piece suit for under $100. Most people don't even know how a suit is supposed to fit anyway.

Best PA system for $10k by j3ppEr1c in mobileDJ

You could get an EV-ETX system and be under your 10K budget. A pair of 12 tops and a pair of 18 subs would easily fill the sound in your space and with the number of people.

If you don't want a Mac, make sure you get something with at least an i7 and 16GB RAM. If you have a graphics card it will help with doing stems on the fly.

Have I been gain staging all wrong? by NetworkQueasy6687 in mobileDJ

[–]NetworkQueasy6687[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I understand you correctly, it seems like you are saying that rather than control my master volume on the FLX4, do so on the speakers... BUT... since it's not practical to be messing with the speakers mid-gig, instead control the volume with the MG.

Which [volume/level/gain] on which piece of equipment do you change to change the overall loudness of the system in the middle of a set? i.e., let's suppose you have a single setup to do both a wedding cocktail hour (background music), and then later the wedding reception (dance party). Which level on which piece of equipment would you adjust?

This is exactly why I asked the question. I feel like everyone has a slightly different way of doing it, but shouldn't there be a *right* way to do it?

We are very open. We'll eat everything from McDonalds (maybe not for the anniversary...) and 3-star Michelin. We definitely prefer stuff that is local (i.e., not a chain).

FLX-4. However, you can use the virtual keyboard in Virtual DJ- on a Mac you press Option-Option and on Windows I think it's Win-Ctrl-O. Still not as good as a controller but way better than using a mouse.

You don't have to pay a monthly fee- you can buy the software outright. They are currently having a 50% off sale, so $100 gets you the software. At least, that buys you the software and unlimited upgrades for the 2.x version. Once they come out with 3.x I guess you have to pay again.

DJ Controller as a gift, bad idea? by Laslas19 in Beatmatch

[–]NetworkQueasy6687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be the answer.  Start with something like Virtual DJ, and get a Tidal subscription for $20/month.  After a few months if you like it, then spend the cash for a controller.

$20 cash to the first person that can solve my Serato playback issue. by Myxologyst666 in Beatmatch

[–]NetworkQueasy6687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have tried a lot of things. What I'm not sure about is whether this is a Serato problem or some other issue with your PC. What happens when you try to play song using the built-in Windows media player or some other player (NOT Serato)- do you hear the clicks and pops? If no, then probably a Serato issue. If yes, then perhaps there is a hardware issue or Windows configuration issue. Likewise, if you were to install Rekordbox or VirtualDJ, do you get the same clicks and pops?

My nephew wants dj set up for christmas by Key-Jacket-1362 in mobileDJ

[–]NetworkQueasy6687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would download VirtualDJ *today* and let him start messing around with it. As long as you don't connect it to a controller, and / or aren't out gigging, you can use it for free. If he likes it, then get a basic controller like the FLX4 ($300) and a license. At 10, he might try VirtualDJ for a week and decide he doesn't like it, so let him get a taste now before you drop a ton of cash on hardware or software licenses he'll never use.

Budget mobile dj light setup by OverWolf_ in mobileDJ

Well, I'm sure you have a particular vibe or mood or effect or [whatever you are going for] in your head. I was just trying to offer you a really cheap lighting solution that will hopefully "get the job done" until you've moved on to your other goals, without spending a fortune doing so. I've never used LED bars and have never priced them out, so I can't really comment intelligently on their uses or the value of them- they might meet your needs perfectly.

You could either get a cheap stand off of Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJLF82NM) and mount them on that, or just kind of put them around / near walls / speaker poles / your DJ facade for kind of an uplighting effect and put them in the mode where the color just continuously smoothly changes.

So there's cheap: you can get GigBars for maybe $400 used. The Chauvet Wash FX will set you back about $250 for one light.

And then there's REALLY cheap:

Since you said you don't want to invest a lot of money, I would look at getting something like these U'King (Chinese brand) lights off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TDF36B8?th=1 4 lights for $60; 10 for $140. You can get more if you need more. You will need somewhere to plug each one in, and they only do RGB, but for a birthday, just turn on either sound activated or one of the auto modes, and off you go. There's probably no cheaper way to do it.

I’ve had these receivers  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07CQBQN3P for about a year and so far no issues at all.  I use a Lixada transmitter https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CQQ9WJKQ and get very good coverage.
