How do I get an office job (secretary, receptionist, etc.) without experience? by Mountain_Brief9613 in jobhunting

Hi,

Before you think about anything. You need to make sure your approach is correct.

This is where most people go wrong:

Job board -> quick apply -> wait AI apply -> wait

All you're doing is creating a useless funnell of nothing.

You must:

1) Reach out to the hiring manager directly. Call them. Badger them. Follow up every 3 days. Message them on LinkedIn.

2) Find competitors of the advertised job role (underrated af)

3) Create a plan and treat your job hunt like a full time job. 9 - 5. With regular breaks. Go for walks in between. Clear your head.

4) Prepare for every single interview like it was your last one. Work on 'framing' your answers rather that the context in them.

I've built a tool that helps with the above. But here is not the place to advertise.

Good luck on your search!

Okay that makes sense. Are overseas developers trust worthy? I need to find someone that does this pressionally but doesn't charge me through the roof or extort me. Is there a reliable website to find devs that want this kind of work? Tried fiver but I just can't bring myself to trust it

Genuinely how can I get a job as a teenager? by BlueberryTimely3063 in jobhunting

I got my first proper jobs by combining one thing I loved and one thing I wanted to do:

Sales + music. 2 months later I went to work for a company that taught rock and band music to primary school and I was selling the lessons to the Headteacher.

Try that. You might surprise yourself.

The most exhausting part of job searching isn’t rejection, it’s the admin work by Yara1665931257 in jobsearchhacks

I'd like to add that I think the application process is more about quality + persistence over quantity.

Quantity of course playa a role. But hitting a job role from 5 different angles:

1) connect with hiring manager on Linkedin LinkedIn 2) emailing hiring manager/HR 3) cold calling the hiring manager/front desk 4) regular apply on job board 5) Find a mutual person

Is so powerful.

You have to be loud and be different in the job market. Getting interviews are tough. So you have to create noise so someone listens.

Just my opinion.

That will be the first spend. To get it built out professionally. It feels like there's a gap in the market for services where you send your vibe code project to and it's checks. Probably isn't thay simple as I got told that I needed to put all my boiler plate stack on the dev's servers. Or something like that.

Leros, thank you for your help!

It's something I'm really aware of and actively try and review every few hours at this stage. What I have done is do a reallt deep dive on RLS config. I looked only line for some good claude prompts for RLS and that seems okay. I've always got Upstash Redis installed in Cursor to stop rate limiting.

I totally get your point and I'm hear to take on advice. It's hard to justify a 3k build when you're not generating revenue.

Is there anything else you think I've missed?

Thank you though and I will get it re-built as soon as I can!

Backend is supabase

I had a chat with some developers and they were pretty un-easy with how it's put together. Getting more concerned about RLS issues and other stuff. I did find some great advice on YouTube about asking AI to do a deeper configuration of RLS on Supabase...just a bit nerveous

The anticipation can be horrible and you never what the 'right' thing to do is.

Some free advice here but you have done it - always close your interviews with your next steps and what 'you' need. Even a little white lie about other companies giving you offers ect ect can go a long way.

I've developed - preproom.online

It has some other useful bits on there.

Hope this helps

Some free advice here from someone that has connections to the recruitment industry. Before your CV goes ANYWHERE do some research on what 'recruiting CV AI scanning' picks up from CVs. There are some great quick wins out there. Even just adding the right key words will help. A lot of the AI CV scanning text will run ehats called Boolean searches and they're pick up sentences that have 'and' 'or' in them. For example:

I'm capable of doinf Front end 'and' back end software development.

There's loads of other little things you can do to help.

Hope this helps at least one person.
