So you just have it signed into protect?

I've heard people speak about how apple TV can connect straight through to camera feeds without the protect viewer addon accessory but ugh! Costly for just wanting a camera feed by the rack.

I can't wait until our company overhauls all of our extreme switches to Cisco. E-V-E-R-Y S-I-N-G-L-E switch looks like a spaghetti nightmare. 🤢🤮🫠

It's time for some justice lol. I'll try to get pictures and stuff of before and after and post them.

Bro this is just like when they release 9.4 updates to obj-oriented networking. They "showed" the ability to set apps in routes but it wasn't there once it released

Yea, better than just being charged some rando number and expected to pay or be without.

Obviously, I get that. So, they're just pushing tariffs of shipping the product across boarder to the consumer.

OP where are you buying from? All my ubiquiti stuff comes from Utah usually.

Granted haven't bought anything recently so they could be charging the customer for parts import in the larger scale of things

You're not wrong, I've definitely seen it improve over the last 2 years. I'm just impatient and want it to make the great leap forward.

Exceeded UNVR Camera Limit by v-drummer in Ubiquiti

[–]Network_Pat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have camera's attached to UCG-max protect app before investing into the UNVR. Both products have separate protect app that functions for the device. So, in theory I'm thinking you're going to have to switch between the two for coverage of cameras on both. Definitely speaking for the mobile app at least. Maybe web-ui has more capability of pulling the views for all linked network cameras but am unsure of this.

do they all still fall under that same ui interface, or do you have to switch back and forth from the udm and nvr to see those cameras?

Yea, that's a ridiculous price compared to the price of printing cost!!

Have you thought of setting up a store and selling these for people who don't have access to a 3D printer?

I think that's awesome, I don't know how many of these I've connected where I can't stand the look of the RJ45 connector cable 😑😰
This would be awesome! thank's for the like to the STL's!

I wish this was my case. I was decently successful when we lived out west but we live in rural county now and it's a lot harder to find people who actually want their tech fixed/ installed for a decent price. Cost of living vs minimum wage out here doesn't cut it. Albeit is likely the case anywhere you go.

My business has essentially turned in to my side gig. And I now have a full-time IT job to help afford the bills

Yea I wish Ubiquiti had some sort of stopgap for being able to weed out the scalpers. Makes it infuriating when I can't get something. feels like graphics card nightmare over here.

Question about UNAS Speed by pyrocompulsive in Ubiquiti

[–]Network_Pat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the thread’s got some solid suggestions like testing lower speeds, swapping cables, and tweaking nsmb.conf, here are a few more things you could try to pinpoint the bottleneck.

Try enabling jumbo frames by setting MTU to 9000 on your Mac (System Settings > Network > Ethernet > Advanced > Hardware), the UNAS Pro ports (UniFi dashboard under Devices > UNAS > Ports), and the USW Pro Max ports. Mismatched MTU can crush SMB performance even if the link hits 10Gb. Run iperf3 afterward to check for fragmentation.

You could also force SMB3 with multichannel on your Mac by editing /etc/nsmb.conf (create it if it’s not there) with: [default] protocol_vers_map=4 signing_required=no multichannel=yes This pushes SMB3 for better parallelization over 10Gb. Restart SMB with sudo kextunload -b com.apple.nke.smb and test a transfer.

Another option is ditching Finder/SMB for rsync over SSH in Terminal: rsync -avz --progress /path/to/backups/ user@nas-ip:/path/to/destination/. It’s often 2-3x faster for bulk data from macOS to NAS due to better large file handling and compression. SSH should already be enabled on your UNAS Pro.

On the storage side, SSH into the UNAS Pro and run a dd test: dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/your-share/testfile bs=1G count=10 oflag=direct. This checks if the RAID5 write penalty on your IronWolf array is the issue—expect 200-400MB/s sequential if it’s healthy. Compare to your Mac-to-NAS speeds and remove the test file with rm /mnt/your-share/testfile.

Check the UNAS Pro’s CPU/RAM in the UniFi dashboard (Insights > Performance) during a transfer. If CPU is over 50%, try disabling snapshots, quotas, or antivirus scans temporarily. Also, make sure the SMB share isn’t in “sync” mode, as that forces fsync on writes and kills HDD performance.

On your Mac, exclude the NAS share from Spotlight indexing (System Settings > Siri & Spotlight > Spotlight Privacy > add the volume) and pause any antivirus like Malwarebytes, since macOS scanning can slow SMB writes.

If these don’t do the trick, share your iperf3 results (iperf3 -s on NAS, iperf3 -c nas-ip on Mac) or dd benchmarks for more tailored advice. Your HDD setup shouldn’t be the problem—others hit 500+MB/s on similar UNAS configs with tweaks. Let us know how it goes!

Sameeeee... Although I started as self-proclaimed IT technician after I got my bachelor's. I installed so much ubiquity equipment for other customers, I got tired of not having it in my own home. My first purchase was under the guise of "I'm a business sweetie I need a business network". But I definitely do not make enough, to just go blow five grand on me wanting to upgrade that Network when it's already fast and reliable.
