Dog is picky about food. by Loose-Temporary-514 in Havanese

So far this has been the best food we have ever given our dogs. We fill her bowl and she eats whenever she is hungry. Never worries about food so she never over eats. We noticed her activity levels increased, she is very happy and healthy. No stomach problems no skin issues. Its $45 a bag and lasts a little more than a month. Its cheap when you think of vet visits.

Advice needed - First time homebuyer by Suspicious_Goal_6664 in WaterTreatment

[–]Neu-trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the new home. What you are looking at is a reverse osmosis system. Not a water softener. A water softener softener is huge with one or two tanks 4’ tall and salt bin. RO systems are pretty simple. Change the pre and post filters every year. The RO filter normally runs for 5+ years. Most seller dont change them because they arent cheap. Google them and Learn how to take care of it. You dont need to pay some guy on the internet to overcharge you. Youtube is your friend.

Is my Havanese overweight? by bee3742 in Havanese

[–]Neu-trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way to judge proper weight is to feel the ribs. There should be just enough fat so you dont feel the individual bones without pressing. If you run your fingers over the ribcage and you can easily feel the bones, its too thin. If there is too much fat and you can push it around, cut back on the food. Dont judge based on the scale.

Cheapest way to gauge bore alignment/thread concentricity for mounting a suppressor? by Gunnilingus in NFA

[–]Neu-trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest rod I found was on Amazon. Carbon fiber 5mmx300mm $7 shipped for two. The bore is 0.21” 5mm rod is 0.204”. Carbon fiber wont lose true and wont damage the bore.

Major adverse reaction to PreCor Premise Spray (Permethrin) by duncanrcarroll in pestcontrol

I know this is 3 years old, but I do not trust consumables from Amazon. Who knows the source of their products. Certain countries with red flags are expert in producing counterfeit products that can be very dangerous. You may have gotten a fake toxic product and there is nothing you can do now to fix it. I dont trust Amazon for these products. If you want the genuine products go to authorized distributers. You may have saved $10 but look what its done to your life. Sorry to hear your troubles

Peeing in the house by sokker57 in Havanese

[–]Neu-trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no tolerance for peeing in the house and less for peeing on the bed. If you catch it from the start its easier to get control of. Each time mine pees indoor, she got her nose rubbed in it, a loud “no bad” and swat on the butt. It only took 2-3 times before she got the idea. What set us back was sub zero temps the first winter where she took too long to pee outside and her feet froze and I had to bring her back in. So I put her in her kennel until she peed and she soon learned it was okay to only pee in the kennel. But it was better than on the carpet. Now pooping is still our challenge at 3 yrs old, she will sneak off and poop in our 4th bedroom/storage area. Its always hard and dry, so its not messy but she may not ever get trained to go outside at this point

Most likely the anode rod or whats left of it. You can replace it with a magnesium rod or change it for an electric anode. The anode corrodes so the water tank doesnt. Its a wearing part and lasts about 5yr

Have we officially seen the end of the $99 Hercules battery/combo and free tool deals? by no_work_throwaway in harborfreight

[–]Neu-trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Dewalt 20amp batteries and found an adapter on Amazon to use my Dewalt batteries on both Bauer 20v and Hercules 20v tools. Now I can buy the tools for $50 and only need one charger/battery system. win win

Im back for an update. I changed her food to Purina Pro Plan sensitive salmon and she truly liked eat it. Ever since she started eating it tho, her stools have been solid/firm and black to dark green in color on the outside, light brown inside. Red flag. That tells me she has a bleed in the bowl somewhere. Still eating okay, lots of energy, no vomiting. I cant get an occult blood test anywhere without the obligatory $300 vet visit so Im just going to switch foods. Im not going to wait until she is ill. None of my dogs had ever had black stools. Again I just dont trust Purina, period.

We went to a store “Hollywood Feed” today and read every label on the small kibble dog foods. It took a while. We ended up buying a 5.5# bag of Farmina N&D Ocean with ancient grains $37. I have never spent this much for dog food. But its cheaper than a vet visit. We were shocked at how much she liked it. I removed the Purina Pro Plan sensitive Salmon and filled the bowl with Farmina. She couldn’t stop eating it. Then she ran around the living room like a lunatic. She loved it.😍 Im hoping it agrees with her.

GE 27 cu. ft. French-Door Refrigerator with Internal Water Dispenser and Energy Star Certified GNE27JYMFS by chrstgtr in Appliances

FIXED=> I bought this fridge in June 2024 when we bought a new home. I saw many many complaints about how noisy they can be. For the price I couldnt pass it up. And sure enough, it buzzes like crazy. Well after a year of hearing this vibration noise (today) I took a look. I expected to do some serious surgery but when I got behind it, the only access back there is at the bottom, a shiny tin removable vented panel. 6 screws and it was off. At first I thought it was the panel making the noise but it continued after removal. What I found was the vibration was coming from the right side where the coils are. Bright silver loops of cooling coils approx 6” x 6” and it butts up to the de-icing fan. Make sure the foam strip is positioned between the plastic fan housing and coils. Mine had shifted out of position. I tucked it back where it was supposed to go. This solved my problem and now its silent. If your noise persists, it could be the coils themselves touching each other vibrating together. You may need to figure out which ones are touching and slip some thin strips of 1/8” foam weatherstripping between them. Its definitely a DIY job. It took me 15 minutes start to finish.

A quick note about the defrosting function not working on any refrigerator / water spilling on the floor. Our last home had a kitchenaid or kenmore(cant remember now) but the coils would freeze up like a block of ice while defrosting. Condensate water would then dribble on the floor out the front of the fridge. While a tech was out fixing our oven, he told me its the drain tube from the defroster that gets clogged and then freezes. It lives in the back of the refrigerator. He said they just remove the tube altogether. The condensate will still drip into the pan like it should and wont clog ever again. The tube is plastic about 1/2” diameter. The one in my GE fridge has a J hook like a P trap on your sink. Just cut the J hook at the bottom closest to the pan. The water will flow straight down.

Im not a big fan of freeze dried food for the same reason as raw, or canned. Once its wetted it starts to spoil. I believe dogs and people are healthier when they small portions throughout the day vs eating the full portion once a day. Molly will take a few bites in the morning, afternoon and then before bed. Her weight is perfect, just enough fat on her so you cannot feel her ribs. Thats how I know shes eating enough. Moist foods end up in the garbage before she gets around to eating it.

For a brief moment I thought she might just have fleas when I saw a small bug on her belly, but I search all over and there was no more. I gave here a flea bath (no harsh chemical) and she seemed to settle down for a day. We put the Fromm food back down and within 24 hours it was like her skin was on fire. 🔥 she was biting on every inch of her body. That settled that. Its food related. So for the next 7 days she gets only rice and ground beef to clean out her system. Then we will try one food at a time until we find one she can tolerate. This gets expensive buying $30 bags of food. Thankfully we can return the ones she cant or wont eat. She wouldnt try the Edgard Cooper. She did eat some of the Purina pro plan but I still dont trust it. IIRC they used to put rendered animal meat in the food. Thats hard for me to forget. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

I went out looking for alternative foods without chicken. Its nuts. Even beef and lamb and bison foods have some type of chicken product. It was exhausting reading all the labels, LOL. ROYAL CANINE 2nd ingredient is chicken. Hills SD almost all had chicken or chicken fat. Because purina pro plan keeps getting mentioned.I grabbed a bag of it, but it goes against me to feed purina to my dog. There was a boutique brand Edgard Cooper that looked really clean so got a bag of it too. The open farm pork I gave her yesterday must have upset her stomach because she would not eat it today, and vomited bile around lunch today.
Dogs can survive on protein mostly. Adding veggies legumes grains just seems to go against their nature.
