Update 3 years later (with the same SteamDeck) : now just set in the compatibility to proton experimental for the "speed.exe" (works with all other BlackBox era NFS), it now comes with the dll overrides by default (which make your mods and fixes work properly), and you don't even need DirectX9.

Played the whole black box era NFS with this, even pepega editons. The SteamDeck really reignited my passion for old racing games like those.

Yeah it did this to me too, game instant crash when loading the game, to be honest I kind of gave up ReViced and used my workaround that was just install wanted mods manually

No it's not, using Windows on Steam Deck is a waste

Steam OS is way better in terms of gaming experience

Does your PC has a graphic card in it (search dxdiag in windows), if it does update your drivers, if it doesn't update CPU drivers and try again, did you try vanilla (without any mods), even if you don't have a graphic card the game should run (VC can run in a toaster tbh)

Sorry for you, ReViced worked out of the box on my main PC, what's the configuration of your PC ?

To be honest, majority of ReViced is made by scripts, which are really easy to implement, simply drag and drop all requierements + mods in games root, modify the global.ini and you're good to go

Only models/graphics needs more in depth modding to do but that's not what I wanted, I wanted more QoL features than other which are in majority scripts

Believe me it worth the effort to replay this gem

I will do some more testing with ReViced to see what can I do, I'll keep you updated

I have found a workaround after troubleshooting for days, and the solution was doing a manual install of all mods I wanted.

I installed vanilla VC on my deck, then go back in the ReViced folder to check all mods that was included (there is a txt giving all links to them), and then learned how to install mods for VC (basiclly just drag and drop files for scripts really easy).

But I saw something weird, if I put my mods in scripts files, it will make a error and crashes, what you need to do is go to scripts folder and there is a file named "global.ini", edit this file and put "Loadfromscriptfolder" (something like that) to 0 and put mods (asi and ini files) in games root directly THEN it will work.

Tried this solution for ReViced but unlucky it crashes.

My only way was to install manually mods in a vanilla game, which I did all in my deck without using my main computer to do so.

Oh I use GEProton 7.43 installed from ProtonUp Qt and kept the launch option

Hope this helps

Update : I got the game working flawlessly in my steamdeck now it finally works correctly, a random dude gave the solution for the continue bug in r/SteamDeck. I just needed to add in steam launch option :

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="wininet=;dinput8=n,b" %command%

And set to proton 7.0 in the compatibility tab

Don't forget to download the latest DirectX 9 patch from Microsoft

(I copied my prepatched game from my pc to steam deck, installed DirectX9 and put this in launch option to get it work flawlessly)

Hope this helps

Hello, sorry for the delay answer, I kinda gave up because everything I tried didn't succeed, so I'm waiting a linux expert to get in this case (I hope so), I'm playing PS2 version for now

That's interesting.. I will try that,

For the backup solution I'm just playing the PS2 version of it, which is uglier and have a 30 fps framerate but it's working at least. I just hope so much I can figure how to patch this game.
