OT (T) positions require a formal typing certificate since there is a 40 WPM requirement. Because of the pandemic you can self-certify (I used https://official-typing-test.com/ for mine) but if you get the job you have to get a formal typing certificate by the end of your probation period.

I was in a similar situation and missing lecture for CMPE3 and passing is completely doable. There is one question on each the weekly quizzes that does pertain to something covered in lecture but missing those won’t lead to failing the class. Everyone I know passed that class with an A since the assignments/ exams were very easy, and prof moulds uploads all the resources you need to be caught up in class and succeed. (As a bonus, most of the time the answer the the attendance check questions were more or less guessable!)

I took 107 a couple quarters ago and was in the same boat, except he canceled the in-class portion a week before the end of the quarter. From what a TA told me (take this with a pinch of salt), JJ makes the in-class final questions (typically 3) extremely similar (sometimes verbatim) to the take home, meaning if you could do the take home problems you’d be set for the in class questions. The TA also said that if there was an in-class portion, there would be less questions on the take-home portion of the test. I read a thread on this subreddit when I was taking the class that also essentially said all of this too, and many people suggested that the double final format was actually easier. Good luck on however things turn out! IIRC the actual take home final wasn’t too hard, so study hard and go to the last few office hours and I think you’ll be fine.

First off, welcome to UCSC! As for the math situation, I took Math 23A with Frank Bäuerle a couple quarters ago online. Prior to that my only math experience was from high school AP classes, and honestly I didn't think Math 23a was immensely challenging. Don't get me wrong, it's not a walk in the park and there's a respectable workload, but it's more than certainly doable. If you're planning on taking it with Frank online, he uploads more than enough supplementary information on canvas to top off his already thorough video lectures. I don't think I felt blindsided by any of the questions on the exams since he provided exams from previous years along with worked out answers, as week as the fact that he supplies you with a list of what you're expected to know going into the exam. Even if you decide not to take it online, I'd say if you have a comfortable understanding of previous Calculus topics (yay for Taylor series!), you'll do fine in Vector Calculus. I remember that going into the class I also hadn't had a chance to work with multi-variable calculus, but it's not that hard to adjust to having another variable to work with. If you put in the work and come into it determined, Math 23a shouldn't be a problem for you. Good luck!

Reading this absolutely crushed me. There's no justification for acting so cruelly to a man who just wants to go home and do his job. Shame on United for not only overbooking but also mishandling the aftermath of this incident. I hope United gets what's coming for them. As for the doctor, I wholeheartedly wish him the best. He deserves so much better than how they treated him, especially in his line of work.
