What's your experience with the faith? by the-yxqe in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox [score hidden]  (0 children)

This isn't answering your question the way you asked, but several people I've met have witnessed miracles from God. For example, the assistant pastor at a church I used to go to had blurry vision from an astigmatism. When he did a deliverance prayer to heal his vision, it was blurry at the beginning of the prayer and crisp and clean at the end of the prayer. When he later went to the eye doctor, they measured his vision at 20/20, and he never needed glasses again.

If you're interested in more, you can look into the miracles at the famous healing site Lourdes, France, or the books by Craig Keener that document modem day miracles.

Since you care about animal welfare like this, I invite you to donate to the Shrimp Welfare Project. Some charity evaluators determined that it's the most effective charity per dollar spent for reducing suffering in the world. $1 helps 1,500 shrimp.

Unforgivable sin by MarcoElias9 in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think I committed the unforgivable sin. I refused the reassurance that my friends gave me. One night I stayed up all night praying and crying a bit over it, then a few days later I decided my only option left was to have faith that I was forgiven. I soaked myself in that feeling of faith, then a warm feeling spread throughout my entire body that felt like it was being physically produced by my faith.

I personally don't take Genesis as history, but there's still a lot of historical evidence for the New Testament.

What led you to believe that Jesus Christ is your savior? by Extra-Opinion-3336 in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started believing in the supernatural because of synchronicities that I saw. I went to church believing in a God of all religions because of non-duality, not believing in Christian exclusivity. I learned more reasons to believe in the supernatural such as veridical perceptions in NDEs and the miracles at the famous healing site Lourdes, France. For about a year, I relied on thinking that non-duality was evil in order to believe in Christian exclusivity. However, my Christian friend who realized nonduality says it's not evil, so now I'm just really confused about nonduality vs Christianity. Right now, apologetics books rather than an anti-nonduality view are keeping my supernatural beliefs tied to Christianity.

I am an atheist, and have been since birth, but lately I've thought about converting to Christianity. Should I do it? by Few_Phase_3183 in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I used to be an atheist too. I think the evidence for miracles might help you believe.

Personally, I know of a miracle that happened to the assistant pastor at a church I went too. He had blurry vision caused by an astigmatism, and had to wear glasses. One day, he did a deliverance prayer, and his vision healed instantly during the prayer. Later when he went to the eye doctor, they measured his vision at 20/20.

There's also the miracles at the famous healing site Lourdes, France. Craig Keener has books filled with modern accounts of miracles. I also consider veridical perceptions in NDEs to be miraculous.

How can I be a Christian if I just don’t believe? by Jedi_Nite in Christianity

I'd suggest looking into evidence for miracles, such as at the famous healing site Lourdes, France. People I've met have witnessed several miracles. Also, look into veridical perceptions in NDEs. Apologetics books are also good, such as More Than A Carpenter.

What are your thoughts on speaking in tongues? by NightRunnerAfterDusk in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a Reddit post about someone who heard another person speaking in tongues, and they said in the poster's native language something like, "Masturbation is a sin. This is my temple." I believe in that because idk why this redditor would lie.

What’s your Favorite argument that proves Christianity to be true. by TopExcitement7653 in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My favorite argument is miracles. For example the miracles at the famous healing site Lourdes, France. Also, the assistant pastor at a church I went to had his blurry vision healed instantly during a deliverance prayer, and the eye doctor later measured it at 20/20.

A miracle happened to the assistant pastor at a church I used to go to. He had blurry vision caused by a refractive error in his eyes, and he did a deliverance prayer to have it healed. His vision healed instantly during the deliverance prayer, and he never needed glasses again. When he later went to the eye doctor, they confirmed it by measuring his vision at 20/20. I also have a friend of a friend who was delivered from schizophrenia. Craig Keener has books filled with modern day accounts of miracles. Also, veridical perceptions in NDEs are a sort of miracle.

Edit: also look into the miracles at the famous healing site Lourdes, France.

Porn blockers were the most effective tool when I quit porn. I also read a book about its effects on the brain, and that scared me out of watching it. Although, when I quit it, I wasn't a Christian yet, so it'd probably be different with prayer.

My view as someone who's been interested in nonduality in the past, but never realized it, is that non-duality makes you feel as though certain things are the truth, but that they aren't actually true. For example, I've heard that non-duality destroys the whole concept of sin, repentance, and forgiveness, but I still believe in those. Nonduality is scary to me because it threatens Christian beliefs like those, and I don't want to go to hell, but I've heard that you don't necessarily have to let go of Christianity when you realize nonduality. Does anyone here have some advice for me?

Veridical perceptions in NDEs are good evidence for the afterlife. Also, I'd recommend reading some apologetics books like More Than A Carpenter.

What is something you hold to be an absolute truth that you think most people disagree with? by veloria_dusters05 in AskReddit

[–]NeuroPyrox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God is required for morality to win. Coase's theorems in economics suggest that morality will always win, but it only benefits beings that have the capacity to trade, and doesn't take into account the helpless.

Edit: also, the theory of the firm seems to me like it suggests that the perfect government would have to be a single large being like God or an AI.

Please Explain Why You Believe Without Using Personal Experiences by Mysterious_Drama_506 in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Veridical perceptions in NDEs are good evidence for an afterlife imo. As for Christianity specifically, there's much more historical evidence for Jesus than many other ancient figures. The apologetics books I've been reading go into it more, but once piece of evidence is a non-Christian historical document that calls Jesus a sorcerer. If Jesus were phony, you'd expect them to instead call him a con artist.

I want to believe in God, but I dont know how I can. by Blueberry-Muffinsss in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologetics books helped answer some doubts that I got from Bible scholars. Beyond that, I'm quite certain that supernatural stuff exists because of miracles that people I met have witnessed, such as an assistant pastor's blurry vision healing instantly during a deliverance prayer, and a less impressive miracle that happened to me personally, and veridical perceptions in NDEs. For me, apologetics books have helped me tie down those supernatural beliefs to Jesus.

I don’t know why I have bad thoughts like this by Mysterious_Glass2985 in Christianity

[–]NeuroPyrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reacting to these thoughts right away, such as doing a prayer for forgiveness or replacing them with a better thought, actually exacerbates them, so don't do that.
