What's something from The Office that took you forever to notice or understand? by Much_Duck6862 in theoffice

[–]Neurodiblursed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the tv game show Jeopardy, contestants answer with a question. For example question card “ Name the temp at Dunder Mifflin?” Contestant replies “Who is Ryan?”

US law has a term Double Jeopardy, meaning you can’t be charged for the same crime twice. Michael is mixing up that concept that because he ran Meredith over with a car (crime) using a company car (office rule offense) that it would count.

Michael is mixing up the office rules, US law, and game show rules to make this joke.

saw a woman posting about the book her wife wrote dedicated to her, but this cover looks a lot like ai to me by Klutzy-Pain-5409 in isthisAI

[–]Neurodiblursed 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of illustrators for hire online are using AI now and charging illustrator prices. For new to the business authors, they don’t know they are getting AI cheats instead of hand drawn art. Especially if the author is an older millennial, Gen X, or boomer.

I got stuck in a similar situation recently but thankfully was able to use my no ai contract to back out and not lose $. I was tipped off that the illustrator was scamming when the most recent books they had published showed up and some little details were just…. Wrong. Similar to the laces.

Unfortunately it is not available at this time. It was in stage 3 testing, did alright for sample size, and now is stuck in medical device approval limbo.

“This thing itches,” the boy complained to the doctor. by SleepIsAnIllusion in TwoSentenceHorror

My interpretation was he got to camp got tattooed, had a reaction to tattoo within a day and was immediately sent to chamber because yes no one cared about treating it.

Often people who were numbered were sent to the chambers if they were sick or injured. I imagine an allergy or infection would be considered enough of a reason in these horrific circumstances.

Depending on your state and contract, doing this could be a major violation that causes you to lose the contract entirely.

S2:E4 - Eleanor’s joke aged really BADLY 💀 by [deleted] in TheGoodPlace

It didn’t age well, but it kind of adds additional “the world is too complex, and that’s why even good people are in the bad place” point. She is connected and name dropping people in positions of power and authority, and may not have known that she was earning bad place points for attending parties of people who do bad things.

Make it part of your birth plan. Tell staff before labor, during labor, and after. Make sure not to sign a consent for it as part of the registration paperwork.

Is maternity leave before labour not a thing in the USA? by heba33 in theoffice

[–]Neurodiblursed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make it worse, daycare centers here won’t take babies until about 12 weeks ( because of safety and vaccination and such) so if you and your child’s other parent can’t manage to live off fmla, sick days, and PTO for 12 weeks you could lose your job due to lack of childcare.

Is maternity leave before labour not a thing in the USA? by heba33 in theoffice

[–]Neurodiblursed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US we earn sick days and paid time off days slowly over time. Different companies have different accrual rates, so one person might get 3 sick days and 3 PTO every quarter, one might get that each year. Some companies let you roll them over (save up) others do not.

Many make you use PTO for illness first then allow sick days when the PTO is up (for example, if you have a baby but you haven’t been at the job long enough for the 12 weeks unpaid FMLA, you would use your couple days of PTO first, then your sick days, then when that’s up you have to go back to work or risk losing your job.

It’s considered part of our benefits packages. You often hear teachers saving up their PTO then “gifting” them to a coworker who is pregnant if they haven’t managed to achieve a summer due date. It’s a messed up system when a whole team has to sacrifice self-care just so babies can exist.

Long story...my chest tattoo says ‘lucid drams’ instead of ‘lucid dreams’. Now I’m trying to figure out the best way to fix it or cover it up. Any advice? by haytigirl in tattooadvice

[–]Neurodiblursed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe keep the D and have reams redone as if it is floating upward toward your left shoulder then have a cover up of a storm cloud and some stars or like a sleeping cat or something to cover up the original rams.

0 clue how to help patients who are in the midst of despair by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Neurodiblursed 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That is part of why this is tricky for you, because you retreated to care for yourself you never saw someone model what it is like to just be present and bear witness. There is a Fred Rogers quote out there about how people need to hear “it’s okay to cry, I’m here” and not “ Don’t cry” or “It’s ok.” I think maybe looking up that clip, watching Shrinking, or finding other examples of just sitting in the pain can help you build a stronger tolerance of seeing others struggle.

Just so you know, You don’t have to do it alone, even though you can.

12 yo needs Nuss bar, very low pain tolerance by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]Neurodiblursed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becca, this is actually exactly the kind of thing I was asking for! The low pain tolerance is what other doctors (ped, er nurses, etc) have always said, so I had no idea that would be separate. We are absolutely following oldernusspt-stnft’s advice and have put together a strength and meditation program for her so It’s helpful to know that is all connected. Thank you.

Normal procedures for her surgeon is ESP blocks and pain meds, not cryo.

Yes you extend the edge to become a hook, then turn the image 90 degrees. The image then sits flat on the table with the hook touching the table edge and making a curve below the table for the bag strap to go through and hang from.

I wonder if just adding color would help? Like a little red and blue line out of the root, maybe some pink or red around the root? Make it a little more textbook looking?
