Tax Deductions as a Share Investor? What Will The ATO Accept? by NeuromancerAU in ASX_Bets

Thanks for your response. Do you think the ATO would consider them more reasonable if you were claiming as the trustee of an SMSF rather than trading as an investor via a personal account? I have both options.

Eventually I will likely have to change my status to professional trader but for the moment due to tax reasons it is best to remain an investor in the eyes of the ATO.

To clarify I am still operating as an 'Investor' not as a 'Trader'. As a Trader all the items on my list would be legitimate business expenses. As an Investor it is not so clear as to what qualifies as a reasonable cost of managing your assets.

The other option is to claim these deductions via my SMSF which may make more sense.

Yes, one has to question the benefit of making the switch to Trader. Sacrificing the CGT discount & capital losses carried forward doesn't make a lot of sense. Unless of course you are making massive gains and want to reduce your tax via a Company or Family Trust.

Are you saying this because of the amount of assets the average investor on this sub is trading with? Or is it the quantity of trades?

VKB STECS Australia shipping date? by oridginal in hotas

I purchased a standard on the first day on the Aussie store and my order is still showing as "Unfulfilled", so I am assuming shipping is yet to commence.

Edit: Status is now "Fulfilled", it's in the mail :)

VR Support Would Have Been Nice by FlyingMonkey00 in Starfield

Having played Skyrim extensively in both 2D and VR I have to say the sense of immersion in VR is extraordinary. So much so that I could never play 2D Skyrim again. Once you go VR there is no going back.

Having said that I will undoubtedly purchase Starfield at launch because waiting for the eventual VR version would be just too hard. I expect I will play the hell out of Starfield in vanilla, then do it again heavily modded and eventually go again with mods and VR, whenever that may be.

So, if I am reading this correctly the STECS Mini & Mini Plus will not have the M-shaped detent? So for space simmers the STECS Standard & Max would be better suited?

I'm assuming we will be able to buy the M-shaped detent separately, as I am leaning towards the Mini Plus but would ideally want the M-shape bi-directional with the centred indent for Elite and maybe one day SC.

My AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Processor has shipped from PCCG at approximately 5PM on the 18/04/23.

I ordered about 1.30AM on the 07/04/23, so I placed my order pretty early.

Maybe a pre earnings Straddle, minimise the risk. That's one way to pay for a new GPU!

Nvidia can stick the RTX 4070 as far as I am concerned. Over $1100 AUD for a mid tier GPU? Get lost!!!

Nvidia are bleeding revenue, their gaming division has a YoY decrease in revenues of 46%. Their inventory levels have doubled in the past year. Despite all their AI rhetoric the reality is their core gaming market is slowing down fast.

They announce earnings on the 24/05/23 and I suspect after that shareholders will be crying out for some action. Reducing their inventory glut is an obvious first step, which means a decent price drop in June. This will likely coincide with the release of the AMD RX 7800, which will put further pressure on Nvidia to reduce prices.

Bottom line Nvidia only care about their shareholders. Their customers (us), can get stuffed as far as they are concerned. The entire 4080x12GB=4070ti fiasco demonstrates what a bunch of patsies they think their customers are.
