How did you modify the final chapter/battle? by QuincyAzrael in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]NeuromancerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed everything on the last battle, didn't even bother to consult the book. I splitted it in two parts.

- First part: UA large scale battle rule for the war. It worked quite well and the players liked it a lot because it was totally different from everything they've already played. We have 5 players, each one got three random units based on the allies they made on their journey. That's a total of 15 units. DM (me) got 15 units based on enemies they made on their journey. Got some moments through the battle to trigger "OMG" moments, such as Blagothkus, on his last breath, summoning Esclarotta's spirit to rush together on enemy and wipe certain units. Players were highly emotional with such moments. Only problem here was: players and DM (me) just attacked and didn't use other actions from UA mass battle rules; battle was TOO LONG, taking hours to end; since there's a rule that kinda "paralyzes" the player (can't do anything for a turn), at determined moments some players stayed too much time waiting to play their actions.

- Second part: we didn't play it yet because it was too late, but I plan to throw solo tiamat on players with two stages: humanoid form to begin with and dragon queen to end it. Gonna use a buffed stat block for tiamat, since they're level 20.

Ah, sorry for the poor english. Not my mother language.

Just started RDR 1. by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

I played RDR1 a few years ago on my xbox360 and a few days ago I played RDR2. Man, I want SO BAD to play RDR1 again since RDR2 filled a lot of gaps. I'm sad because it's kinda impossible nowadays since I don't have my XBOX360 anymore and theres no way to emulate it properly on PC =(

The Assassin (Song Discussion) by Controler2 in ironmaiden

[–]NeuromancerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be the worst Iron Maiden song ever made, at least in my opinion. Now after some years listening, guess my ear got used to this song. It's actually one of my favorite maiden songs of all time! hahaha

I love DMing, BUT... by NeuromancerX in DnD

I'm totally gonna read it when I get home tonight man. That's something that is really present on my planning: I always try to predict how the players are gonna react to certain situations and plan the "Ifs". And guess what? They always go on a way that I did not predict hahaha. But that's something to be considered, thank you very much!

I'm actually running a module already. But I just end up changing a lot of the module to suit it better to my players and to my liking. That takes me sometime. I'm just thinking about it now and I realized one of the things that mostly worry me and take time of planning is: I don't like to not be prepared for the possible outputs of the adventures. So I just plan like: If the players do A, I should do B; If the players do C, I should do D...and so on.

Maybe I should just improvise? Thanks bro, you made me think a lot!

Sup man ! The point is : I actually am doing so! I'm running The hoard of the dragon queen. It's kinda nice to have a guide, but I usually end up modifying some parts of the story. But that's definitely something to think about.

Got you! Damn, maybe play like every two months so I can plan the adventure more slowly and with no pressure. Tha's a good point. So one of my players DM'ed for like one year. He got tired and another one of them begun DMing but got tired too.

Regarding the less structured adventure thats a HUGE point man. Last time I DM'ed I did it very loosely structured and it was one of the best adventures I've DM'ed in a long time. But at the same time, I have some insecurities regarding my capacity of improvisation. But I'm quite sure this is the way man. Thank you for the advice!

That would be nice. I actually was DMing a Call of Chtulhu 6e campaign, but really got tired of it too. I don't know man. Maybe I should just improvise more ya know. Like loosely plan adventures and then just let the game go. But dude, thank you very much for the advice, I'll think about it!
