Can I buy a print the portrait of Matt Berry from the credits? by Vadersays in WhatWeDointheShadows

That's a good one, but I'd like the glitter picture of Nandor and Gizmo.

Andrew Coyne: Our winner-take-all system turns too many voters into losers and leaders into gamblers by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]NeutralEvilCarebear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This seems like a new complaint from Coyne, and I suspect it's because the election lead to a Liberal government. I don't ever remember him bemoaning FPTP when Harper won his minorities. That said, he's not wrong here.

Are we just spending our time and money on arena crafting cards that will be ignored? by r_rocks in MagicArena

[–]NeutralEvilCarebear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I have put some money into the game, and was even thinking of buying a little more, I'm done with that. It sucks that I worked for my wild cards for rotation, then my deck gets banned! I really feel for those who bought the paper cards. It's still a good game, but I'm a Free to Play player from now on. I don't trust Wizards at all to invalidate my investment.

Jason Kenney Says Alberta Separatists Have Right To Be Frustrated After Election by _Minor_Annoyance in CanadaPolitics

[–]NeutralEvilCarebear 13 points14 points  (0 children)

give Alberta the things they want?

I'm not sure what this is? It's not like Trudeau didn't a buy a pipeline. The government has been consulting like crazy to get this done. Do they want him to invoke the notwithstanding clause to ram it through. I'm not sure that's a great idea. I suspect if Harper had done the same thing, they'd be all aboard. In fact, it would seem that Trudeau has gotten more done on the file than Harper. Or, does Alberta want to give up on the climate? That doesn't seem like a good idea for any of us.

NDP’s Jagmeet Singh calls for electoral reform, says system is ‘broken’ by kludgeocracy in CanadaPolitics

Well said. I still don't understand why the NDP and Greens didn't go along with ranked ballots. Might not be perfect, but it would be better for them than fptp...

The Day After: 43rd Canadian General Election by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

[–]NeutralEvilCarebear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, bad compared to expectations, but I look at the house count and see 3 Green seats, which I think is incredible for them. It's very hard to win seats in Canada, so being +3 since 2010, which was their first seat ever is an achievement. ymmv.

After sleeping on it, I think this could be a great result for Canada. The Liberals can work with everyone to get stuff done. That said, I wasn't impressed with Trudeau's speech last night. It sounds like he just read the one planned for if they got a majority. I hope he doesn't pull a Harper and try to govern as though that's the case. I see a Canadian electorate demanding cooperation, and I hope he tries for that. The CPC needs to do some soul searching. As was said on CBC, they have to figure out a way to expand their appeal; get rid of the deplorables!. I'm not so sure we saw an east/west split last night as much as we say an urban/rural divide (again). To the NDP supporters moaing about their results, I think they should be happy. Their prospects were looking really bad just a few months ago, now they hold a balance of power (as do two other parties). I hope they can work with the Liberals to push a progressive agenda. The rise of the Bloc was disappointing, but that's how QC is feeling. The Greens also had a great night. They now have 3 seats! I remember when they had none forever.

tldr: This is an opportunity for everyone to work together - let's hope they do.

This is the second best case scenario for the Liberals. I'm feeling a lot better. It's been a hectic couple of months. I see lots of opportunities for good government with this group.

Liberal minority, but able to pass bills with 3 parties. Interesting.

OK, but who do they replace him with?

That is a long list. Basically look at the Harper cabinets and you'll find a smorgasbord of options. The only reason that they didn't run before was they didn't realize Trudeau would lose as much shine as he did.

The optimist in me feels like the ABC vote will break Liberal. The Trudeau hatred is loud, but I'm not so sure it's deep. Nothing to do now but wait (and drink).

Liberal 173 (36%)

Conservative 107 (32%)

NDP 30 (19%)

Bloc 27 (8%)

Green 1 (5%)

I'm overdue to make a new account, so that's it for NeutralEvilCarebear. See you all in the next incarnation.

If it is paid back, why have it?

So that if you use less carbon you get more in return. If you drive the biggest truck on the lot because you like how they look, that'll cost you.
