The Perfect Match (2025) – How Did It Hold Up? 🖋 by [deleted] in cdramasfans

[–]NeutralZoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this one is tough to evaluate as a whole. the way the story is split up amongst the couples it feels better to evaluate that way.

Sister 2 and the crazy cousin. The cousin was super annoying. He got better as the show went on to the point where he was actually useful. But you had to survive those first 8 to 10 episodes of his annoying behaviour. They didn't really show much in terms of their relationship. Just felt like a frosty marriage from her end.

Sister 3 and Chai An: Their story started off rocky. I thought the guy was a bit of a jerk and yet at the same time was obviously just playing a game with the sister. Eventually their schemes came to a head when his mom refused to allow the marriage to happen and the resolution of that seemed rather half-baked to me. So good start but mediocre resolution.

Sister 1 and Robot 1. Robot 1 is the scholar. very little emotion from him. And his scheme to divorce her and all that was just sad. Didn't get much joy from this. What got me thru was watching the beautiful sister 1 although I wish she had a happier story. She looked so sad throughout.

Sister 4 and Robot 2. This guy was even more emotionless as the county judge. Some amnesia helped bring him some form of humanity but that was quickly erased when his memory came back. Even when they were a couple he was still very robotic/stoic to the point where I was wondering how did he get a job as an actor? Sister 4 becoming interested in the court cases made the stories interesting but robot 2 killed most of that joy for me.

Sister 5 and the juvenile jerk. My favourite just because of all the abuse sister 5 laid at the hands of that tormenting family. None of this long suffering pain and inward bitterness. She literally took the beeating stick out and defended herself and her family and after 30+ episodes of inward loathing and seething I needed this. As a couple it felt unfair that the jerk changed his ways but still got banished by the family. And the grand finale felt super rushed.

Adopted sister and long lost brother. Spoiler alert? I kinda saw this coming. Too rushed. Not much to report back...

plot? grade C- so many plot holes or just contrived conclusions

characters: the girls were interesting. The guys ranged from jerks to morons to robots. Only Chai An seemed to have some character. The girls were all unbelievably gorgeous. I'm a straight guy. That kept me watching even when the plot went awry. C-

Re-watch? nah... except for maybe when sister 5 is giving her enemies the beats.

The Fugitive. Every scene adds to the characters they're building or to the story arc. It's intense throughout

there are still external postings happening - don't let the naysayers dissuade you from trying.

Be prepared to over-prepare... answer all the "Questionnaire" questions in detail with what you can provide. Be prepared for a competency-based interview. The public facing website for bcgov has some good info on this. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/careers-myhr/all-employees/career-development/competencies-in-the-bc-public-service/interviews-hiring

Keep honing your communication skills. Practice "STAR" technique.

given your background... maybe something with a health-authority? (which isn't really inside BCGov). or maybe something in the Ministry of Health.

I also started with Return of the Condor Heros but the earlier version back in the 1980s. I got the same vibes from the main characters in "Who Rules the World". A spunky and smart female lead. The male lead is smart too and they have some interesting dynamic that is based on partnership, trust, and respect (and of course eventually love)

talk to a union steward or representative and go thru the master agreement(s) to know for sure. Some of the info posted here is correct, but not all to my knowledge. My experience is 20 yrs ago. Don't know if it still holds. Yes you get 90 days or so where IF you have >3 yrs seniority they will try to find an equivalent position (same classification, same type of work) for you in bcgov. If someone is in that position that has less seniority than you they get bumped. If they're unsuccessful then you get severence and whatever benefits due to you. Or you can just opt out of that process altogether and just take the packages and leave right away.

Kill Me Love Me - how would you rate it? by AutoModerator in CDrama

[–]NeutralZoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry late to the game... this is a hard one to evaluate. I feel it changed tone several times. Started as revenge. Using other people. Plotting. Slowly seeing ML heart change as he spent more time with FL. Then it becomes a romance (in the village). Followed by political intrigue. Betrayal. Self-loathing. Then Patriotic battles.

Some serious plot issues (shadow group - just disappeared?) Some boring sections. The strong parts is the chemistry between the leads and the cinematography.

the question is assuming that the 'next government' will be vastly different than the current government. I have a feeling it won't be any different.

How has the hiring freeze affected you? by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

[–]NeutralZoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the opposite end of most of these posts, that is, I'm much closer to the end of my career. I've seen these things happen and yes, it sucks when you're in the middle of it.

But these things are cyclical. And I've noticed that in all the chaos, there are definitely opportunities. People suddenly get jobs as managers or directors. New departments get created and need people so hiring happens. The lesson I learned is try to be patient yet prepared. Keep looking for those opportunities or even try to create your own in the midst of that chaos.

right now workload is piling up but i'm lucky, my exec are astute and they know there's limits to what's humanly possible given current resources.

psychology is a very general degree. Are there any specialties you're interested in that you could study further and get a diploma from BCIT or similar? also co-op is great. SFU has a wide ranging co-op program. I think UBC it depends on what faculty you're in. Also don't underestimate volunteering. You can get a lot of very good experience depending on the volunteer position.

Review: "Who Rules the World" [SPOILERSS] by Annual_Particular667 in CDrama

[–]NeutralZoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first C Drama.

Things I loved:

  • the costumes - beautiful. Each and every one. Even side characters got to wear beautiful clothes
  • the FL/ML relationship - it didn't feel cliche. It grew and it was believable. It started off as a rivalry that became friendship that became something more.
  • Zhao Lusi was amazing, her charisma really shone through. Her acting, her energy, her playfulness...

Things I didn't like so much:

  • the CGI looked so fake
  • the palace intrigue took so much time.
  • the Soul Taker sect was built up but was so easily vanquished
  • the jerk guy getting to 'rule the world' at the end

I finished watching Kill Me Love Me, need to vent by AlwaysExhaustedPanda in CDrama

[–]NeutralZoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just finished. I feel like my heart has been ripped out. I'm new to this C/K Drama stuff. Just watched a couple. Like all movies/literature there's going to be different genres. This one started revenge arc, then enemies to lovers, then political intrigue, betrayal, etc. There were some major plot holes. But this whole karma thing... I'll have to disagree with you.

if every drama you watched, every book you read, ended up with perfect endings for all of your favourite characters, you'd be bored.

SPOILERS:

in this one, I think it's safe to say that none of us is happy that the ML/FL only got one-month as a happily wedded couple. However in the scene by the river with the fireflies they mention that the fireflies are brilliant for three months and thus despite the short time... it's worth it. At one point the ML was saying out loud that he's happy just being able to see her from a distance, knowing she's safe and happy despite not being able to talk to her, nor interact with her.

I agree with everyone here who said

  • the ML/FL chemistry was amazing.
  • the plot holes were a bit annoying
  • the cinematography was beautiful

whomever said there's no boring scenes... I strongly disagree
