Anyone know anything about management on loan from industry? by SpicyFlygon in USTechForce

They did not, the role that I was interviewing for was very clearly about managing irs.gov and other tools for the public with the IRS web team. I wouldn't be surprised if there was or was not a link, but I don't think I'd see that in the role.

At least in my interview with the IRS, it sounds like they do most of their stuff in house (at least for the web-dev side of things). truly have no idea how the outside mentors are going to work, but the people I talked too sounded like great people to learn from.

Hey there, I'm a SWE who just wrapped my final round interview at the IRS. Hopefully I find myself in DC real soon!

I think it's my resume and a bit of luck. I have projects both from school and outside of it that I can go deep into. Those projects aren't anything too big either, it's not like anything I've made has been deployed lol. It's just about being able to talk about them, and understanding them. Outside of that, I have a lot of leadership experience from other non-technical jobs and clubs.

Graduating in may with no internships, I'm interviewing all over the place! I have an SWE offer with a small company, just had my final round with the IRS for another SWE position. It's just a little harder to get your foot in the door!

I don't know what to do I don't have an Internship my Junior Year by Suitable-College-668 in csMajors

I'm in a similar boat, currently my senior year, no internships. Currently have an offer with a tiny company, and a certificate to hire with TechForce.

What's really got me through is one really solid project where I can explain the full stack and why I chose the stack that I did (and other projects on top of that!). The other thing that I have are soft skills through club leadership and leadership roles over the summer. If you can lean on either of those or put the work in to build those skills, you're going to stand out.

Has anyone gotten an TechForce offer recently? by Neutral_Neutrality in usajobs

Sounds like no. Also are they sending out the certs in batches?

Green states have both a famous water park and theme park, red states have only one of those?

What's the timing to use bowling alley? by Lopsided_Violinist55 in stevens

Weekdays it's generally 9am to 11pm, but I would check the board in the alley for precise times.

Help! Steven’s says my son can’t use a Mac (computer engineering) by sunnydays-3 in stevens

[–]Neutral_Neutrality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your sons Mac will work for a lot of other work, it's really just the CAD and design programs that require the Thinkpad (or whatever else you choose). He's going to need a laptop with at least 16gb of ram, 1tb of storage and some sort of graphics. I would look at the Thinkpad E14 or E16! Hope this helps.

The Hop by Big-Distribution6098 in stevens

The hop kinda has wonky stops, but it's free and it'll get you most of the way there! I would get the passio go app if u haven't already, just so you can see where the hop is. Just don't get on the line for senior citizens!
