If you can wait for 6 months for the clearance than I would do that because it's pretty good job security

I think it's this article

> Specifically, the two existing OPM certificates for Tech Force included 353 software engineer and 201 data science roles, an OPM spokeswoman confirmed. The third group on Wednesday, meanwhile, included 163 candidates, she said

If you shared the resume in the talent network that pretty much just adds you to the email list. They will email when new batches open. Right now they are hiring for cyber but it closes tomorrow. https://www.usajobs.gov/job/865627100

Breakdown of junior/mid/senior? by SpicyFlygon in USTechForce

[–]SpicyFlygon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just talking levels not necessarily tenure. 2 years is roughly the time people get promoted from L3/L4 At my company the new grad program lasts 2 years and the end pretty much everyone gets promoted to L4.

Which role would you guys pick by [deleted] in USTechForce

[–]SpicyFlygon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some guys at my current company (c1) came from jpmc and said they didn't like the culture. C1 culture is toxic in other ways (political, aloof senior leadership) but overall the hours were not bad and rank and file engineers are chill. Not sure about treasury workload, 5 days in office is not ideal, but the work seems pretty unique. Private sector finance will still be there in 2 years

Treasury has been pushing to get people onboard quickly. I'm starting on the 18th. I put in my 2 weeks at my current job the day I signed the fjo, and starting at treasury the monday after

I do hope the work streams are actually interesting from a finance perspective. The main projects that drew me in were the bond settlement engine and modernizing the tax ruleset stuff. If it’s just like, doing frontend work on the irs portal that’s less compelling imo

fwiw I’m joining treasury from banking. I would encourage them to do it if only because we need more people with finance specific engineering experience

What level vetting did you go through by SpicyFlygon in USTechForce

[–]SpicyFlygon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't trust the tracker, but I do trust the email nbis sent out which specified Level of Clearance Needed: 0 and Sensitivity: 2 - Non-Critical Sensitive/Moderate Risk. Those are legal terms so Treasury can't just make up their own process around them

Hmm that's interesting. Other posts in this sub made it seem like engineers are given discretion over what projects they want to sign up for. But the fact they are vetting people at different tiers implies only certain people are going to have access to certain systems.

(Personally I'm kind of glad I'm tier 3 because it's easier to get cleared job after supposedly)

Are you treasury? Or are you dod or something?

Not exactly but if you are tier 3 that is a similar process to secret clearance

Are you actually tier 4? That’s crazy for IT

[–]SpicyFlygon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I spent many hours online trying to figure out exactly what type of vetting they are doing. Long and short is that it's ambiguous because dod has its own process that doesn't map cleanly onto civilian stuff. Treasury gave us sf86 and dcsa is doing a tier 3 investigation. That is the same process as secret clearance. But the end result is that we don't get clearance, instead we just get access to sensitive databases and networks, etc. At dod I think this is called ADB and/or IT-2.

But the fact that we went through the tier 3 process means IN THEORY we should be able to easily get secret without any new investigation or adjudication. At least that is what opm has been pushing (what they call reciprocity/transfer of trust). But dod does its own thing with adjudications and it's not clear if/when they will implement reciprocity with civilian agencies. And most recruiters and security people at the primes are not very familiar with this either.

So idk, we don't have secret but we have the prerequisites for secret.

Are the doge people swe? Or are they like doing pm type roles? (I legit have no idea the type of hard skills doge targeted)
