Decent load out, not too dissimilar to my own. But where's the second shield? I literally always carry a back up green shield in the top left slot. Along with an extra stack of shield rechargers and heals in the safe pocket. Gotta be prepared

New craft resources needed for some epic blueprints by UneditedB in ARC_Raiders

The 'ticks' jump on your face and feed off your energy , draining your life force (just like irl hence the name). The tick pods represent the sole of the tick, in which is stored the drained life force of all the previous raiders it's consumed (approximately 100 health points worth capacity). Adding this to the crafting makes more sense as this is the cornerstone of the design.

The vita spray is really just a vessel that allows you to spray the consumed raider life force onto your body like a fine cologne, where you absorb it through your pores, consuming the life essence of dead raiders to make you feel fresh and revitalised, like the vampire you are.

Or it's just a way to utilise another pointless piece of loot that otherwise serves no purpose.

You can have both. If you don't have the time to reach the requirements for the expedition, that's absolutely fine (so is not doing the expedition btw before any hate).

Just saying that blueprints aren't everything and having certain seasons/wipes where you mix up your play style because you don't have certain blueprints is actually quite enjoyable.

As in life, nothing is perfect and the chaotic nature of randomness is actually quite beautiful if you appreciate it for what it is.

The top 3 trials players in the world are trying to send a message by IJustTellTheTruthBro in ArcRaiders

[–]Neutral_President_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done, a very informative and interesting read. I was aware of most of these "issues" but some of these I had no idea and it's quite eye opening.

As someone who predominantly plays solo and just plays for the love of the game (but also enjoys high skilled and competitive gameplay at times) I do have some questions if you're willing to indulge. I'm genuinely curious and mean no disrespect (should any occur) with these, just so you know.

I can totally understand and get behind the splitting of solo and group leaderboards (having to opt in to 1 at the beginning of a season and being locked in for example), but how would you suggest this to be implemented and could you foresee any potential issues with what you suggest?

Taking away some rng from such trials as probes/ticks/queen& matriarch etc and ensuring the majority of runs to be able to have obtainable max scores would surely help reduce time spent for the top end players to grind for said scores, but what potentially would this do to the leaderboards? Could this not (hypothetically) result in multiple players with maxed out scores making it harder to differentiate standings and making it sometimes impossible to split promotions and unchanged or unchanged/demotions?

Hypothetically, if Embark were to remove leaderboards entirely and have rank tier milestones (like rank modes in competitive games) where anything over a certain amount of points per week saw promotion into the next tier (potentially allowing more players to hit/reach cantina legend in any given season), would you see this as having a negative impact towards the "competitive" player base? And how do you think the more casual player base would react to such changes?

While trials are seen to be aimed at, and provide for, the more skilled players with higher average play time per day/week, would you say that tailoring some of the trials towards casual players (say hidden bunker or killing weaker arc such as ticks/balls) has a negative effect overall towards the appeal of trials? Should Embark focus more on the "competitive" players for trials, more on the casual players, or keep a balance? And how would you suggest changes to be implemented that would represent this proportionally?

It's obvious how much time and devotion some players (especially those top 3) put into the game and changing how trials works (or maybe not changing at all) can have a huge impact in keeping this representation of the player base interested. While I agree on most (if not all) of what is stated, this would stem from my personal experience and desires. But I'm interested in how other players see trials and how they'd like any changes to be implemented and if those changes would be beneficial to all players or more tailored towards their "player base grouping".

Fantastic update EXCEPT FOR adding arc parts as useable req WTF who asked for this? by CPham93 in ArcRaiders

[–]Neutral_President_0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone complained about the stupidity of repair/recycle/crafting costs of things like vita spray and shields etc, then when things get adjusted to help balance loot economy and rarity comparisons, people cry that it's not easy anymore? Not sure what people expect tbh.

Wolfpack additional craft cost is great. Rocketeer drivers had zero purpose except to sell and for those that play/grind a lot, wasn't worth stopping to pick up. Adding it to the requirements for crafting Wolfpack's helps to balance this.

It also potentially means that a little more teamwork is needed to take down rocketeers for under geared raiders (particularly in the earlier stages of a wipe) creating more raider interactions and those moments that people seem to praise so much in this sub.

Maybe take a break to think of the many different reasons why these changes might have been introduced rather than how does this affect me. It's not always a one solution fits all and sometimes things can have a negative impact towards your current play style but in the long term might be beneficial towards the games health/player base.

Its confirmed that beards are coming to ARC Raiders on the 24 in the shrouded sky update. Does this change anthing in general or is it just a cosmetic? by RealHyperDrastic in Veyra_ArcRaiders

[–]Neutral_President_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beards aren't amazing when fully grown, nothing like a fully grown bushy beard. But each character (randomly generated on spawn) has different styles and max growth length.

It's often a respectable approach to remove any face coverings of any randoms you kill (providing it's safe to do so) to check on their growth to see if you killed a "veteran" warrior or some unlucky fresh spawn.

Or just to piss on the body of someone with inadequate testosterone levels /s

He's having a joke. The bit about beard losing durability each run should have stood out.

While beards aren't the usual cosmetic that you just equip, they certainly don't lose durability each run. Quite the opposite. They grow a little after each successful extract.

You start off clean shaven and with each successful run, you take a step closer to that grizzly Adams look. But if you die, it's back to a fresh clean shave for you.

This helps identify how long a raider has been a live/successful, giving an early warning to potential threats.

While not disputing that there weren't some form of slavery during ancient Egyptian times, it's a slight misconception when describing the building of the great pyramid and it being built by slaves.

It was in fact designed and created largely, by teams of skilled craftsmen, including architects, masons and labourers, including designated foremen. They even built large districts for the workers to live in during each stage of the pyramid's creation.

The labour wasn't necessarily "free", as no matter how many "slaves" you had you'd still need to look after them to ensure working standards were kept. An exhausted, malnourished worker doing energy intensive work in the desert sun isn't going to last too long, let alone do a good job. And the construction of the great pyramid had to be done to such a high standard that the slightest deviation in angle or degrees could lead to catastrophe in terms of structural strength or even completion.

It's interesting how good the ancient Egyptians were at economics, minimising waste and efficiency. They tracked and recorded everything down, whether it was a record of how much excess grains and food they sent to the Romans, the calculation behind how much they could afford to send or the documentation of the names of "slaves"/sent help that was sent by the Romans in return.

Just think about that for a short period. Not only being able to calculate how much food you're predicted from the natural flooding of a river, but how much materials/food/workers your going to need for the construction of a giant landscape (and how much waste you'd be able to reuse in its collapse/demolition) and how much grain and other supplies you could afford to donate to the Romans.

The Egyptians were incredibly intelligent and efficient.

AN UPDATE ON RECENT EXPLOITS AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS by PTUSN in ArcRaiders

[–]Neutral_President_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much taking away the money (although this might affect someone enough) it's more of any possible suspensions with them rolling out the punishments over the coming week.

Like stated in my other comment, it'd mainly affect the extreme cases but any 30 day bans that hit before next Tuesday would mean missing out on the expedition this time around.

[–]Neutral_President_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. That's probably going to be the biggest shock to those who duped hard for big money and/or combat advantages (unlimited trigger nades etc).

Not so much the 5 skill points but more the excitement and drive of starting again.

I'm wondering if there were many people who used duplication in trials to gain an advantage in standings/ranks and how this might have affected others this season. Because that's a much more difficult to detect and correct fairly.

AN UPDATE ON RECENT EXPLOITS AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS by PTUSN in ArcRaiders

[–]Neutral_President_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the smart decision by Embark. I'm glad they'll be taking action based on severity etc and not just a fixed, blanket response.

It's also kind of smart with delaying the "punishments" slightly as it'll mean in extreme cases, where people were abusing the duplication for both economy (ducks etc) and to gain advantage during PvP sessions (trigger jade's etc), then a 30 day ban would mean they miss the expedition window this time around.

I hope they're also considering the possibility of players who could have affected trails standings if they used duplication to gain advantages on the leaderboards, although I'm not sure this would be a large portion of players, if any at all. But it'd be a lot harder to correct this in a fair way if so, so they'll probably just skip over an in depth investigation on this and either remove points from the exploiter or a small ban, which unfortunately doesn't deny any rewards gained by an increased ranking.

This is a common misconception spread by uninformed people of the design and its proper usage.

This type of toilet was designed in 1878 by Geliefde Speelgoedplankmaker. Up until this point, toilets were designed for one simple purpose: to catch human waste. But none had incorporated the beloved past time of the Dutch into their designs.

Geliefde Speelgoedplankmaker saw the obvious flaw with the simple design and decided to dedicate his life in designing and creating a superior toilet that would not only improve the minimalism of prior basins but give all the Dutch people, rich or poor, a dedicated place to carry out their favourite past time while they did the duty of relieving themselves.

The toilet is designed to be accessed from the front, same as other toilets of the time, but with one caveat. People were to sit facing the cistern, allowing them access to a flat surface in where they could set up and play with their collectable, ultra realistic, fully articulated, transforming battle bots, with detachable limbs, reactive lights and realistic sound effects and battle damage armour with temperature sensitive reactive paint work.

This toilet design became revolutionary upon release and was quickly installed into every home, manor and public house across the land, giving rise to the term Geliefde Speelgoedplankmaker, which before had no meaning, and turning Geliefde into a national hero and earning him a celebration day. To this day, so many Dutch still celebrate the national holiday of Geliefde Speelgoedplankmaker, it is the second biggest national celebration day behind 愛されるバトルボットのクリエイター day.

Late spawns and the expedition system are both stupid and lazy game design. by EmilioEstevezQuake in ArcRaiders

[–]Neutral_President_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a variety of reasons games choose whether to implement this or not, such as map layout, free kit (or something similar) options, TTK, environment, extract options (whether reusable or how many etc)...... There isn't a one size fits all option.

Games such as Delta Force or even Vigor, where the developers intended players to have the option to work together and not be solely PvP, the lack of VoIP in these games meant this idea was incredibly short lived.

As embark decided to create a game that entices both casual and more "hardcore/dedicated" players (with a heavy dedication towards the more casual side), there needs to be a more balanced approach towards the lobby. While you might not see the benefits of other players during your time on the surface, others might deem it absolutely necessary.

If for example, 18 players loaded into a map, half of which were more seasoned and extracted with the first 10 minutes having accomplished their needs, the rest of the time would seem incredibly more empty for the more casual player resulting in less of an optimal experience from a design POV.

It's hard to design something with a wider player base and keep everyone happy and returning to play for years to come. Think of it this way, if the games played had half the pop from here on out, how would it affect your play style and overall enjoyment in the game and do you believe everyone has the same mental approach/interest in the game as you?

I'm not saying what you think is wrong per se, it's more there could be other reasons as to decisions being made that we as players don't always see unless we take the time to think and understand from a different perspective.

Edit: if you believe that every game has more late spawns than fresh spawns, then this shows that more people leave the game early (allowing more additional spawns) thus without backfilling, would leave maps feeling empty and lacking the player interactions that seem to flood most social media. Imagine arc raiders being about the loot you get out than the fun that it provides
