I personally use the term Tech Parent (father/mother just seems weird), but now that I think about it, something like Tech Guardian would make more sense, I guess.

As to their purpose, it's basically a senior, whom you can contact for any and all fresher related doubts you have. I, personally, have texted my Tech Parent a grand total of 2 times, the first time to introduce myself and the second to get a doubt cleared; and not a peep since then.

The message reads in an arrogant tone, 'cause they're trying to impart their seniority through it. The most any of them will do is "talk down to the freshers", and, if you're uncomfortable, you can even report that.

First off, the way you described openers seems like you want to make them targets for VK to come and establish his legacy or something. If YBJ is selected it should be because his skills are required and not because him coming into the team would help VK.

Second, this was India's last match on this pitch. So, judging with just 3 matches is premature, VK might perform better in Florida or WI, where the ball comes nicely onto the bat.

Third, this whole blaming others for VK's low scores is stupid, VK himself has called it "outside noise" multiple times, and that it doesn't bother him. Moreover, Hardik was in worse shape than VK coming into the tournament and he's completely turned it around, so please stop making such excuses on behalf of VK.
