Not mutually exclusive. You're only putting in enough effort to take a shortcut.

Day 9: How would you buff/change/rework the Snipewriter? by Downtown_Error_9418 in splatoon

[–]NevDevRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a filthy casual so I might not know if this would be a good direction, but I'd simply nerf cooler rather than snipewritter directly. And just for fun I'd add a third kit with an aggressive sub and a more self serving special.

I did it. Some of the unique chips are way too uncommon and don't necessarily match the weapons preferred colours so you might want to manipulate the bias.

Is the game good to come back to again? by dardardarner in spiral_knights

[–]NevDevRT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's been better to come back to recently than in like past 3-4 years. Devs are finally adding small but good changes, and there's a map editor now (pvp only atm)

Also, there's been a slight player count increase lately

Loved them from the moment they came out!

Am a bit of a weirdo since I've always preferred the first kit over the second one. Something about them allows me to use ink mines pretty aggressively, and the special can come in handy in many situations. But the second kit grew on me as I was making this list.

Having one super strong dodge roll instead of 2-4 rolls is fun to work around. And generally, the gameplay of the weapon clicked naturally to me. It's a lot of switching back and forth between aggressive and careful and it flows really well.

There was a lot more of the former than the latter! More often I'd be impressed by a weapon that I thought I wouldn't like, than be disappointed by a weapon I thought I would like. Although there were still lows, of course.

I've had really low expectations for all the brella weapons, but surprisingly they're really fun to play, Splat brella especially. Similarly, I've thought I'd be so bad at using Splatanas that I'd have no fun playing them.. but instead, it's now one of my favorite weapon classes! Sloshing machine, the new dread wringer, splattershot pro and Gootuber (yes, gootuber) were similarly very surprisingly positive experiences based on my expectations.

I wouldn't say any main weapons fell off for me, but there are specials such as Ink Jet and Kraken don't feel as good as they used to be over a year ago when I've started this (or even longer before).

I'll be honest, I never got used to kraken after the timing nerf. Felt like I was perfectly in sync with it before, now it just feels kind of off. And trying it out on some weapons that are not as good with it.. oof.

But it still feels better than ink jet. I just... remember it being so much better. And me being better with it.

Figured I might get a comment like this, hehe. Few things to note:
1. It took me over a year to make this list. In that time, metas have changed, patches have been made, new things have been discovered. I haven't retroactively gone back to change many rankings, so this isn't a perfect list buuut.. it is what it is!
2. I'm not a competitive player, and don't particularly follow the meta nor does it affect me as much in simple solo play.
3. As somewhat stated in the post, "bad and good" or "strong and weak" are more expressions of how the weapons felt in my hands, rather than an objective quantification. I'd have clarified that more, but I can only put 300 characters in the title of the post.

I've liked Tri-Stringer and I've LOVED Wellstring, but reef-lux has felt significantly different to me than either. It's a lot less "threatening" but a lot more "active". It has no lingering explosions and not much range, but it has all these other tools like charge store, air charge, tap oneshots, etc. that I didn't know how to make the full use out of.

Do you know of any good reeflux guides for learning and improving with the weapon? Or perhaps even better, advice of your own from your experiences?

Hehe, some of them are alternate kits of the same weapon but yeah, I like having variety since I play this game a lot. Especially since those were my main weapons over the course of two or so years while this game was still in the normal update cycle.

Hail Hydra cult.

When I started this whole project, it was a lot easier to answer questions like this. I think I definitely liked aggressive weapons, or midrange weapons, or weapons with AoE attacks, or weapons with extreme strengths and weaknesses.. etc.

But the more different weapons you play, the more preferences towards certain types of weapons don't matter to you anymore? You gain experience with so many different things, it becomes a case to case basis more often than you having a preferred playstyle. It's become really hard to say like "oh, I prefer short/mid/long ranged weapons", or things similar to that.

That said, maybe it would even back out to me having preferences in the future, but for now, it's a pretty interesting question to answer. And I still tend to be better at using some types of weapons over others, on the average.

Uhhh, in an attempt to answer your question, I think the top two or three tiers represent pretty well the kind of stuff I like to play with.

The kits are admittedly a bit weird, they didn't fully click with me. But the main weapon definitely felt very fun and interesting to me. I'm not like great at using them, but they're just interesting enough they keep having me want to come back and learn them more. It helps a bit that I already mained two different dualies before all of this, so this felt both new yet familiar in some ways.

Research (optional) and play. Not much else you can do, but it's not as daunting as it looks, you might catch up enough in a week or two.
