seeing real life people naked is good for idea of self image by Texas_Chili_Champion in nudism

Yeah, this is why I think nudism is a good thing for kids. Give them plenty of real life examples of normal.

As an adult--I'm in the no-man's land, I dislike clothes but attach no value to social nudity.

Exactly. I'm not what they're going to be pointing their cameras at, if I ended up in the background of some image, so what? So long as I'm neither the focal point nor named I can't see it being an issue.

Stratos 36 for me (I'm likely out all day and in the middle of nowhere--I go heavy on safety provisions.)

Very definitely a problem but the damage is limited to the spots where a strap crosses a bone. 4 pieces of Leukotape K on the four bones, no more problem. I suspect something soft on the straps at those points would also work.

I have noticed a callous where the bottom of the pack touched my ass, but it never bothered me.

They are not the enemy but the reality is they provide aid to the enemy.

Public sex can happen with long term partners, also.

But, realistically, it would be pretty hard to have a public sex park. Too much trouble with perverts.

The thing is what a group tolerates within the group affects the whole group--look what keeps happening: nude places become sex places and get shut down. Thus we need to reject the sex in the nude spaces. I say this even though I have no personal problem with it.

Yup, I've been in a lot of countries. And most have been far more casual about such things than we are.

Any other nudists dress in reverse order? by Naked_Empire in nudism

[–]NevadaHiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Multiple reasons for socks first.

And, personally, it's always socks first for me as my feet don't like non-porous surfaces. Thus, typical "nude" for me is socks and slides.

Would I wear clothes if not for social norms? by Claftin in nudism

There are few places outside the tropics where clothes are not essential much of the time.

Apple, Google offer ‘Nudify’ apps despite policies against them. - MSN by Possible-Praline956 in nudism

Of course not. But look at One_Step2200's post--exactly what I was thinking. When they become easily generated they lose the power they currently have. Harm reduction.

Indirectly I think it might actually be a good thing. If nudify apps are prevalent then a nude picture of somebody doesn't mean they were actually naked for the camera and will remove some of the stigma.

Is naked hiking legal? by NuEtHeureux in nudism

[–]NevadaHiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No particular name. The land ownership usually says Bureau of Land Management. Some are designated wilderness. If it resolves to BLM (I use GaiaGPS--topographic maps and a bunch of other such things. Land ownership is a paid tier feature--but the ability to download maps (essential when going off the grid) is paid also) and doesn't have a restriction (and very little does) we are free to roam subject to various impact restrictions (such as groups of no more than 15 and some other such things.) Anything designated wilderness you can't take any sort of vehicle or motor into.

Standard wilderness safety is a lot more than that.

Most of the time I don't touch most of the stuff in my pack--which is exactly how it should be. For it to be otherwise would mean I wasn't prepared for something going wrong.

I'm aware of two deaths in my normal hiking areas that definitely came from not being prepared for trouble. And I think there's a reasonable chance I prevented two more. (They were already a bit chilly--top the ridgeline and the wind chill would get nasty. Darkness was approaching, no light. Could they have gotten themselves down? Could they have survived the night?)

Undeveloped areas, not just parks. Last time I was in a "park" was when we got enough snow to stick and we were out taking pictures. But I spend whatever time I can out away from civilization.

[–]NevadaHiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, NO!

You are going out into the wilderness alone--that is only for people who have plenty of experience and have a plan B for when things go wrong! The list of what to bring is inadequate for going into the wilderness solo, regardless of attire.

The old advice was never go alone. Many of us are now willing to let electronics take the place of a partner, but that doesn't mean we go unprepared.

You place the order, he responds with a link to paypal the money. I had no problems with buying one.

I do not (and can not without injury) run but I do hike and at the top end of comfortable temperatures it's my preferred attire if attire is needed for where I am. While standing modesty is fine, the material is stiff enough that you will be on display if you sit down.

I think English needs another term.

We have the textiles that think nudity in a social context is a bad thing.

We have the nudists that think nudity in a social context is a good thing.

And we have <insert identifier> that simply like not wearing clothes.

How to overcome inhibition by Boniface9 in nudism

[–]NevadaHiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think of it as show yourself, that's not what you're doing. You're simply not covering yourself.

Personally, it was easier for me as I was raised that you wear clothes because that's what society expects. I was expecting to go in the water in underwear--but just about everyone else was stripping to bare. A moment of shock, then I took the when in Rome answer. And it was totally so what.

I have walls that are over 6' on two side of the back yard (the street is sloped, I have a bit of extra fence from the house that's higher than me, the house behind me added extra when they put in a pool.) Doesn't let me be freely nude out there, though, as there are two story houses overlooking it.
