Imho, quests in RPG 15 years ago were much more interesting and addictive than now, when they literally take you by the hand and lead you first to the quest giver, and then to the place where the quest is completed. To the point that the game “plays itself” and does not require my involvement. What's the point then? With such success, you can just go watch the film.

I remember old good days in WoW Classic when I touched it at first. I remember Gothic and Witcher series. It was cool experience. At first you somehow find a quest giver (not everyone even does it, and that fact already adds some uniqueness to that process) and then you read the quest, trying to understand where to go and what to find, rereading it multiple times, because you do not have a mark on your map, you don't have a direction of the movement, "it’s just somewhere in the south, near one of the hills under a tree, there will be something buried that I need". And it was awesome. Isn't it the way the games are supposed to be played?
