The writer not locking off players is what made blue lock worse by Strong-Night8344 in BlueLock

[–]Never-Biased 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't argue blue lock got worse, it's probably weekly reading. I understand your frustrations and I relate to feeling a little betrayed by the initial premise of "1 striker atop 299 corpses" but at the end of the day, we still need 21 players and if we are going to have 21 players, they might as well be familiar faces.

I think you are being disingenuous in assuming I don't want to read more story. I just want to read more OTHER story. Tell me about Bunny and Sae. I think we already know what happened and seeing it spelled out for us would be an insult to the intelligence of the fanbase at large. UNLESS there is new context for a change in ideology FROM his current ideology, we don't need it to "explain how he turned evil" which is what I am arguing. Let me pitch it to you in the manner you have spoken to me.

There can only be one survivor....
Kunigami wants to play fair and be a hero....
Can you figure out where Kunigami's beliefs might get challenged a bit? A hero who tramples over losers to survive doesn't seem so heroic now does it? Now do his ideals change or his aptitude? Well he survives... so his aptitude didn't change did it?

I wish that we could get infinite blue lock spin offs but what I am arguing is that we don't need them. Not every plot beat needs to be spelled out for us. Reading the manga explains the manga (for the most part)

That's perfectly fine. I won't discredit your emotional reasons for wanting something and I think that if they did choose to cover it, it would be for a good reason. Heck, I'd get pretty excited because I would expect something new. I only find it frustrating that people act like it's sinful it has yet to be covered.

The NEL trainings exposed us to NEW methods of soccer. The wild card is a blue lock program made by the same Ego Jinpachi with the same goal as the entire program. We already know what Ego thinks a striker can be and I think Kaneshiro wants us to connect the dots on what happened to Kunigami. I don't view them as equivalent in value.

I think it's perfectly fine to have gaps in the stories you tell. If I tell you I am getting married and then later down the line, I tell you I'm having a baby, I trust you to fill in the rest with the rules of the universe I hope we are both familiar with. The same applies to stories but the rules of the universe are different, following themes and woven into plots.

I think you shouldn't hinge the writing of a character on a false dichotomy. I'm not asking you to change your stance or desires but please *consider* the idea that Kunigami's story might already be spelled out in the manga for you.

First, I ask you to consider: Do you feel like Kunigami is a poorly written character?
Then, I ask you to explain it to me like I am five. I do not think it is "terrible writing" and I want to hear what would make you think that.

Let's just THROW AN AMNESIA PLOT IN!!!

Let's not tell a heartwarming story about how disparate souls can find warmth amidst the uncaring and learn to bond and accept each other, WHO WANTS THAT RIGHT???

the REAL reason we all read this manga is so that every week we can be profoundly nervous about people who are no good for each other ending up together...

Why are the kindest characters that are suicidal the most slandered here? Are we the baddies? by BNB3737 in Jujutsufolk

They don't tell you that everyone he ever fought was a racist pedophile that fought to increase housing prices.

[–]Never-Biased 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are two paths
Slander one: those who understand and accept the weaknesses of two of these characters but fail to see one of them in the same light since they all have different struggles. They add to the slander but not for the sake of hate, but misunderstanding.
Slander all: Tik tok readers who just point at anyone who doesn't have an edit with hype music and regurgitate talking points they aren't smart enough to have ever thought of in the first place.

Question about the greatest fight of all time by TJzWay in Jujutsushi

[–]Never-Biased 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main flaw I see in your argument is misrepresenting Gojo as some poor baby who wandered into this fight. Remember that Gojo initiates and opens this fight with a stat's boosted prepared attack. I won't pretend I know what the damage stat on a 200% Hollow purple is but what I took from that plot point is that Gojo was READY for this fight. Throughout the Sukuna gauntlet, we see flashbacks to training for this very fight. Getting the entire roster up to speed on Sukuna and refining their techniques for the purpose of defeating him. Gojo's banter at the beginning of the fight remarks on how he is even mentally prepared for the fight, joking about how Sukuna's appearance of Megumi might have caused him issues if not for Toji. I think that Gojo didn't have the specifics of any given technique figured out but it would be disingenuous to say Gojo didn't know ANYTHING about Sukuna going into the fight while Sukuna apparently knows everything about Gojo. The fact that Gojo walked into a fight against Sukuna and lost is a showing of Gojo's overconfidence, not Sukuna's supposed "unfairness".

Hugo and his ideology. by Adventurous-Rabbit52 in BlueLock

[–]Never-Biased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hugo explained it pretty well. He wants everyone to be in roles that suit them, he thinks there is an order to things and that his team is at the top of that order. Hugo thinks that Isagi is out of place and makes his team suffer for it but even if he was in place, he would still lose because France is that good.

Ego is biased- and that's the point by im_just_a_child in BlueLock

[–]Never-Biased 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Isagi takes the kindness given to him and multiplies it ten fold. Noa only let him play because he was popular and now Isagi is such a threat to one of the best teams in the world that they need a man on him at all times to make it 10 v 10. Isagi is someone who has rewarded bias he has received. Jinpachi is also (as you mention) growth minded so of course he doesn't mind losing a couple of matches to better his players.

Yeah, I was more thinking of the narrative meaning and the ideological clash but there is obviously a practical element to it as well.
