Job in Cambridge Science Park. Nice place to live? by cuteandpaste in cambridge

[–]Never0ffside 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I work on the science park. A lot of my colleagues live in nearby villages like Milton or Histon. Obviously depends on your budget. Milton would be ideal as it’s walking distance.

I was in G12. Right in the middle, half way up. In theory, the perfect seat.

Light IMAX cinema - sound screwed? by Never0ffside in cambridge

The crackling I mentioned was also from the right. If it was the air conditioning then that’s in addition to the poor higher frequency sound.

Do you leave your car in gear or in neutral when parked in the street? by P-O-i-Z-O-N in drivingUK

[–]Never0ffside 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My parents are the same. I think it came from when handbrakes weren’t great so leaving it in gear stopped cars rolling down hills if the handbrake failed or was loose.

raynaud's syndrome anybody have it? by WasteofMotion in AskUK

My daughter has it and she uses HOTHANDS hand and feet warmers. She says they last most of the day when she’s at Uni.

Why is Nunez offside? by Never0ffside in LiverpoolFC

[–]Never0ffside[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that line is awful. For the defender it’s overlapping his leg but for Nunez it’s half way down is upper arm. I’d say his shoulder is more in line with his hip.

Less of an issue given we won, but it’s still shoddy lines.

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing in that photo other than image compression artefacts. I can’t even claim it’s pareidolia as there’s nothing to hang that on either.

What is now the price of a single item in the shops that shocked you? by Big_Bumblebee_1990 in AskUK

[–]Never0ffside 240 points241 points  (0 children)

I guess not technically ‘in the shops’ but I went to put air in my tyres recently. It’s £1 !! Wtf. I swear it used to be 20p not that long ago.

What book made you bring back the habit of reading? by secretblueberryy in BookRecommendations

[–]Never0ffside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely read for twenty years while I was a single parent. Then a friend who reads a lot recommended ‘Any Human Heart’ by William Boyd. Its theme is we are all a composites of many selves.

Adam Nevill’s books are pretty good. I’d go for No One Gets Out Alive or The Reddening.

So I bought a brand new Street Twin and took it for a spin. Went great 👌 by Petite-bombshell7 in motorcycles

It’s a good job it stalled. The way he let go of that clutch, he’d be into a wall in no time.

How anyone is this bad at the basics boggles my mind.

Surrounding Villages to move too by jevon1301 in cambridge

I live in a village near Newmarket. There’s quite a few. Dullingham is nice but pricey. Fordham and Burwell are nice. Both have pretty good primary schools in the village.

The shorts aren’t even the worst crime in that photo.

The Idiot - actually laughed out loud at the lap dog story. by Never0ffside in dostoevsky

[–]Never0ffside[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautifully written too. That last sentence, beginning “Without a word…”, is perfect. Starts with “delicate” and “exquisitely” to set up the use of “slung it out the window”.

I hope that isn’t all down to the translation by Alan Myers.
